“In other states, Deputy Governors are referred to as spare tyres. In Lagos, I can you tell that I have never been treated as such by Gov. Sanwo-Olu. Never!” — Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, Mr. Deputy Governor and Lagos APC consensus candidate for 2027 governorship election.

Originally composed in 1964 during a period of intense political friction, "Yorùbá Ẹ Ronú" (Yorubas, Reflect) by Chief Hubert Ogunde, the doyen of Yoruba Theatre, remains a definitive anthem for self-examination, unity, and integrity in leadership. Politics is a ruthless game, yes, but Atiku Abubakar, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso etc have related with Mr. Peter Obi with calculated deception from the beginning of this “coalition”. Atiku CANNOT realistically go to the North’s core political Islamic stronghold and ask them to support Peter Obi as President while asking them to settle again for vice after another Southerner. He’s a literal mix of the two worlds that the north is deeply biased against (Igbo + Christian), and Atiku is fully aware of that. Jonathan success was a circumstantial fluke, that’s why he didn’t win second term. Kwakwanso knows this too. Yet they still aligned with Obi, fully aware he joined believing he had a real shot at the presidential ticket. Obi, on his part, also miscalculated, he didn’t secure that position upfront and relied on internal victory. Here’s the core issue: when you enter an alliance rooted in entrenched dirty political structures, you don’t outplay those who have mastered that system, you get outmaneuvered. That’s why everything is tilting toward Atiku. The alliance was never about making Obi president ; it was about leveraging his momentum. Atiku saw his numbers and Obi’s, his structure plus Obi’s grassroots energy, and positioned himself to benefit either way: absorb Obi’s support (as VP) or weaken him and make Obi leave with less supporters than he came with if the coalition collapses. Now comes the tribe factor, Kwakwanso and other northern candidates will without thinking twice, drop their personal ambition to push Atiku for Presidency if it comes to it, not necessarily out of loyalty, but alignment of interest. Why? Because this coalition has always carried an undercurrent of a quiet push to return the presidency northward. Obi just didn’t see it, but Nigeria like I always said is coalitional, everyone came to the coalition with different goals, Obi thought the goal was just to take back power generally no matter who it is, but the north?, they came with ONE GOAL, to take back power. Two things the north values more than party affiliations is tribe and religion. So despite the fact that they were different sects (Kwakwanso, Atiku, El Rufai), against present Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the north doesn’t know party they only know “Power must return to the north”! This is why the goal of this alliance is for them to leverage Obi’s support base in the South East, tap into divisions in the South West, and then consolidate that combined leverage back in the North where voting strength is decisive to canvas the “north take it back movement”. The momentum that Obi and his supporters helped build to add to the strength of the opposition up to the consensus of all opposition to field ONE Presidential Candidate was not just done to weaken Peter Obi’s supporters’ say in a primaries (it’s now a much much broader political carnival now which Atiku has way more ‘mouth’), but to serve as a magnet to make Obi (if he wants to leave) leave with less than he came with and make the Atiku led opposition strong and enough without Peter Obi regardless. These are my observations about the dirty opposition politics and…. May Nigeria win🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬

@Big_marvis Who is this fool carrying bigotry on his head? At the time, Lagos was capital territory of a country that wasn't even independent. Any fvcking citizen can lead a capital territory. Immigrants have done it UK & US. In the same time Hausa was mayor in Enugu, & Yoruba in Rivers.

Which kind nonsense be this for God's sake. Azikiwe left Igbo land and wanted to rule Yorùbáland. So we should have made Azikiwe Yorubaland leader and become slaves to Igbo people on our land? Are you people crazy or what? The only offense of Yoruba against Igbo is that we refuse to be ruled by Igbos on our land in the sprit of true Federalism. If not for Awolowo and Yorubas, Igbos would never have survived the destruction of the war and rebounced like they did today. Do you all want to take our lives before you are satisfied? ==================== Azikiwe, an Igbo man began TRIBAL BIGOTRY. He founded IGBO FEDERAL UNION IN 1944 . The moment AWOLOWO founded EGBE OMO ODUDUWA about 4 years later, Azikiwe started a propaganda campaign using his WEST AFRICAN PILOT NEWSPAPER CLAIMING "Awolowo EGBE OMO ODUDUWA is against the UNITY of Nigeria and it's an ETHNIC bigotry organization" Whereas, at this time, Azikiwe was an elected representative in Lagos, representing his division in Western Region capital in Ibadan. But this wasn't enough for Nnamdi Azikiwe. About 7 years later, he campaigned in the election for Western Regional Government and lost.because Awolowo outworked him. BUT IGBOS LIKE THIS FOOL WILL COME OUT TO DAY SAY RUBBISH!

Saying LAWMA “did not” come to pack waste yesterday is very FALSE. Not only FALSE, Various LGAs have bought their own Compactor Trucks to decentralise the work LAWMA was meant to do yesterday, that decentralisation is part of the future of environmental issues in the State. ALL LGAs participated in the exercise yesterday and all interventions are still ongoing till this moment. This Environmental Sanitation will continue MONTHLY, and the re-awakening of everyone to the issues of the environment continues.

Did Lagosians come out yesterday for environmental? YES! Did LAWMA come around to pack the wastes? NO, as usual. Did the rain push everything back into the gutters? Yes. Will Lagos continue to smell if we don’t manage our Waste logistics well? Yes. Is Tokunbo working? Yes, but not smartly.

We are actively monitoring the situation across Lagos State and have directed our operational teams to ensure that every single waste generated during the monthly environmental sanitation exercise is cleared in record time. The same energy we deployed to mobilize residents must also be channeled into swift evacuation, and I am receiving hourly updates confirming that our LAWMA crews, Ministry enforcement units, private sector partners including the different local government councils are lifting every gathered pile from our streets without delay. Beyond the clearance of the streets, the core objective of this exercise is to free our drainage channels, unclog our roadsides, and protect our canals from becoming illegal dumping grounds. We are clearing the drains simultaneously because this is the only sure path to securing our city against flooding as the rains continue to intensify. A clean environment is our first and most effective line of defense. We remain unwavering in the determination to deliver a flood free Lagos. This goal is within reach if we sustain this culture of cleanliness, proper waste disposal, and responsible environmental behavior all year round. I thank every Lagosian who participated. We will clear it, we will keep it clean, and together we will build a #CleanerLagos and a #GreaterLagos.

In Lagos, the cap is never just a cap. Bola Tinubu has worn his embroidered logo for over 25 years — even before becoming Governor of Lagos. He has explained his logo signifies a broken shackle, representing freedom from poverty and bondage. Mudashiru Obasa, the Speaker of the Lagos House of Assembly, wears a cap bearing the number "1". He has never publicly explained it. But in a city where political signalling is deliberate, observers read it as a statement of rank and dominance. One man wears his philosophy. The other wears his position.

Watch the Footage of Nnamdi Azikiwe, President of the First Republic of Nigeria, leaving Lagos Airport for medical treatment in the United Kingdom on Saturday, October 16, 1965, as he departed for London, where he was to undergo treatment, while the Nigerian Parliament did not sit that day because all Federal Ministers and Members of Parliament were asked to be at the airport to bid farewell to the President.

I i was telling my wife the other day that I feel so bad for Gen zs and the generation after them. I was at an event that had a lot of them, and it was just sad. Bad Govt and bad economy have robbed them of having a vibrant social life. They hardly buy drinks at the club, can't afford cars, and can't afford decent apartments, so they create their own little way of having fun in raves and the likes. No money to afford drinks. That's why you see prevalent recreational drug use in that demographic From Uni, I was able to properly plan and go clubbing and will have such an amazing time, i would fly from Benin to Lagos with 10k then and not pay it any thought. When I started working, my first car was 700k, a 2006 EOD in 2012 then, and when I moved to my first apartment. Rent was 1m for a 2bed on the island, and 1hp ac was 60k. I remember buying a ticket to Venice for 180k and changing 2000usd for 360k at southern sun that year. I feel so bad for them, their youth taken away from them because bad govt after bad govt, devaluation after devaluation.

Happening Now: Today marks a historic moment for Lagos as I join the people of our great state in welcoming His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for the commissioning of key projects delivered under the leadership of our Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu. These projects speak directly to the everyday needs of our people. The Ojota–Opebi Link Bridge enhances connectivity and eases movement between Ikeja and surrounding communities. I remain proud to be part of this defining moment in our collective progress. A proud moment of progress, partnership, and purposeful leadership. 🇳🇬 @officialABAT @NigeriaGov @lshaofficial @followlasg #LagosDelivers #ProgressInAction
