NOW - After 7 months of fighting, the ICO has finally opened a full investigation into the Home Office for blocking my Freedom of Information request due to my ‘social media activity’ On 6th August 2025 I asked the Home Office for agendas, minutes and policy briefings from official meetings where charities and NGOs discussed asylum hotel contracts and accommodation policy. They claimed releasing the documents would harm “public affairs” and even “health and safety”. But here’s the shocking part they admitted in writing, they looked at my social media activity and decided disclosure could cause “public backlash” because of who I am. That is illegal. The law is clear (it’s called the “applicant-blind principle”), FOI requests must be judged on the information itself, not on who is asking, what their job is, or what they post online. The Home Office broke that rule to block legitimate public scrutiny of how taxpayer money is spent on asylum hotels. The process has been gruelling: - Request sent 6th August 2025 - Home Office refusal: 15th October 2025 (already months late) - I asked for an internal review 16th October 2025 - Review outcome (still refused) 13th November 2025 - I complained to the ICO straight after Today, March 2026, they have finally allocated my case and started a proper investigation. Seven months. Just to get an investigation started. The ICO will now look at whether the Home Office was entitled to use those exemptions and whether they should have released at least some of the documents (I’ve asked for redacted agendas, anonymised summaries, etc.). This is not over.

In our letter, we also warned about the chilling effect this definition will have on women’s ability to comment on and critique aspects of Islam, and the acts of those who follow it, that are deeply harmful to women in particular. “For example, women, and indeed Muslim women (in particular) may feel inhibited from speaking about actions such as so-called ‘honour killings’ where such speech may be labelled and regulated as anti-Muslim hostility”. The definition could also hinder campaigners working to expose practices such as female genital mutilation (FGM), predatory grooming gangs, and abuses of women’s rights. Another problem is that this definition could penalise people simply for recounting historical events. This could impact Sikhs, for example, when marking the martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur, who defended the Hindu faith against Muslims. In our letter, we warned that the definition and guidance could lead to “offensive comments” — or perfectly legitimate expressions of free speech — being logged as “anti-Muslim hostility”. This would create a new form of non-crime hate incident (NCHI), inhibiting public debate while wasting police time and taxpayers’ money. This official definition is a Muslim blasphemy law by the back door, which will silence public debate and legitimate criticism of Islam, its practices, and its history. Read more below 👇

America invaded Afghanistan, spent 20 years there achieving absolutely nothing, then left in such breathtaking chaos that people were literally hanging off aircraft. It then invaded Iraq over weapons that turned out not to exist, killed somewhere between 150,000 and a million people, and converted a functioning country into a sectarian hellscape. This is before we even get to the drones over Yemen, Somalia and Pakistan. The people washing up on European shores are, in very large part, the direct human wreckage of American foreign policy. America created the disaster. Europe is housing the survivors. And America is on the internet asking why Europe keeps letting people in. Remarkable cheek, really. As for eliminating indigenous culture: the United States actually eliminated its indigenous people. Deliberately. With rifles and government paperwork. Europe took in Syrian doctors. These are not comparable situations, and pretending they are requires a truly heroic indifference to history. The culture is fine. France still has the cheese. The Louvre is still there. Bach is still there. Nothing has been eliminated except, apparently, the ability to read a percentage.
