Uday Bhaskar Rao, convicted Abdul Salman (22), a mason from Bandlaguda, in connection with a 2020 case registered at Chandrayangutta Police Station and later transferred to Bandlaguda Police Station. He was found guilty under Sections 354 and 506 IPC and Section 12 read with 11 of the POCSO Act, and was sentenced to 5 years of rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of ₹20,000. The case dates back to January 29, 2020, when the accused lured five minor girls (aged 5–9) near Ghouse Nagar by offering to show magic tricks. He allegedly took them into a hut, showed them obscene videos, restrained them, and threatened them before fleeing. The victims’ statements were later recorded in a child-friendly environment at the Bharosa Centre. The Bharosa team provided counselling, emotional support, and continuous follow-up assistance to the victims and their families. The conviction brought relief and satisfaction to the affected family.
