Minority respondents prefer Democrats in control by a 40-point margin (61% to 21%) while white respondents prefer Republicans in control by a narrower 7-point margin (41% to 34%).

The narrow but statistically significant margin in favor of Democrats depends on several key demographics, the poll found. Women prefer Democrats in control by a 20-point margin (49% to 29 %) while men prefer GOP control by only a 3-point margin (38% to 35%)
