I have just been offered my first BBC reporter role! For more than seven years I’ve been building a portfolio of stories as a journalist both nationally and internationally to become a BBC reporter. I am thrilled to say I’ll be on air, reporting on @BBCRadioLondon and multi platform stories across the capital, bringing London’s news to you everyday. Tonight I was asked to present an award for the Student Social Mobility Awards for @UpReach celebrating people paving the way to levelling the playing field across the country for young people from all backgrounds. As a Mancunian of Irish decent, working class, I’ve seen my parents pave the way and sacrifice their needs so I can aim higher. What an honour it is to be presenting an award to those breaking through those barriers and achieving more than they thought possible and a wonderful evening at Mansion House.
