@ORStateParks Built in 1865 as a trading post, it became home to two Chinese immigrants, Ing “Doc” Hay and Lung On in 1888. Lung On was the general store proprietor and a businessman, while “Doc” Hay was a practitioner of #herbalmedicine.

@pdxchinatown Bue Kee (1893-1985) was a painter, sculptor, and ceramicist born in Portland's Chinatown who later moved with his family to Clackamas County to help manage a hops farm. Hard of hearing, Kee could read and write but never finished grade school.

May 10th, 1869 marks the day when Chinese American railroad workers joined the Union Pacific and Central Pacific railroads in Utah Territory. If it was not for the tireless efforts of Chinese Americans, the United States would not have been successful in this project.
