So far our research indicates colonies demonstrate unique pathogen stress signals communally, so it may be possible. Like to team up on investigating this?

@OSBeehives @BermondseySt @TeamLondonBdg If “detraction” means “detection”, then Yes, ideally. However. EFB is a non-spore forming bacterium in uncapped brood, whereas AFB is a spore-forming bacterium in capped brood. If a sensor could identify either of these two notifiable diseases, it would be a valuable resource.

There’s been a shocking jump in bee disease in London. In 2015, there was zero incidence of AFB or EFB (national average 0.5% & 4.8% of inspections). Rising every year since, it’s now 2.0% & 17.4% (national average 0.2 % & 4.1%). This is a big wake-up call for London beekeepers!
