✍️Why Striking Iran’s Power Plants Could Backfire
"You can dismiss polls, argue about numbers, or call it propaganda, but talk to people who were actually there, in the streets, during protests and unrest. Their accounts are consistent. The anger is directed inward, at the regime, not outward.
There is also a harsh understanding among many that weakening the Islamic Republic’s machinery, especially the parts responsible for repression, can shift the balance. This is a government that has killed tens of thousands of its own citizens over the years. That reality is not abstract to people inside Iran. It is personal.
But this is exactly why the next point matters.
If military actions cross a certain line, if they begin to damage civilian infrastructure like power plants, water systems, or essential services, they risk handing the regime its most powerful tool.
Proof.
Because then the narrative becomes easy to sell: “We told you. America and Israel want to destroy Iran.” And this time, they can point to visible consequences in people’s daily lives.
That is the opening the regime has always wanted, to move from fear-based storytelling to tangible evidence, and to step back into the role it has carefully built for itself: the only protector, the only savior."
