Year 2 @ St James'

In RE we have read the Gospel of Luke - The crucifixion of Jesus. We then discussed that Jesus forgave the 2 criminals on the cross. Then we read the Angel’s Message and coloured in the picture of Jesus who had risen. @OSJ_RE

A great morning playing playing our last lesson of the Galaxy Defenders game. We can work really work well as a team to play different variations of the game and defend well.

A fantastic morning making our puppets. We used a variety of ways to join the puppet together - stapling, wonder webbing, gluing and sewing. Then we decorated them so they matched our original designs.

In maths we played an odd and even game and practised adding numbers up. Then we looked to see if there were any patterns.

In Prayer and Liturgy, we listened to the gospel of St John and reflected on how God can bring comfort and support to us in difficult times. @OSJ_RE

In maths, we have been looking at odd and even numbers and explaining why they are odd or even.

Year 2 enjoyed looking at a variety of seeds from our local environment and learning about different types of seed dispersal.

In Prayer and Liturgy we celebrated the 4th week of Lent by reflecting on the Gospel of John and how we pray for people in need of healing. @OSJ_RE

In Design and Technology today, we made paper mock ups in preparation for making our puppets. We also decorated the fabric finger puppets that we stitched last week, when we learned how to thread a needle, tie a knot, and sew a running stitch. 🪡 🧵

In RE we read the scripture from Luke about how Jesus rode on a colt into Jerusalem and how the people cheered and waved palm branches and laid their cloaks on the floor. We then sang, ‘Give me oil in my lamp’ and added actions to it. @OSJ_RE

We played 5 variations of the Galaxy game. We are getting so much better at using tactics to make sure we end up with the largest amount of points in our nest. The winning team was the yellow group by just 1 point.

In Prayer and Liturgy we celebrated the 3rd week of Lent and read the Gospel of Saint John. We then reflected on how God offers friendship and love to everyone. @OSJ_RE

In RE we read Luke 8:22-25 and we discussed the miracle of Jesus calms the storm. We then looked at Neil Thorogood’s art and and painted our own representations of it. @OSJ_RE

We had a lovely afternoon making Mother’s Day card. We hope it was a nice surprise to receive them .

What excellent independence and resilience we saw in Y2 today. We explored joining methods and practised a running stitch, threading and knotting our own needles!

In Science we learned that an ecosystem is a community of living and non-living things in our environment. We talked about all of the things in the ecosystem and created a web of connections. #BritishScienceWeek

In preparation for making our puppets, we have been investigating different joining techniques in our D.T. lesson. We have used staples, pins, and running stitch to join pieces of fabric together. 🪡 🧵
