In RE we have been learning about how Christians around the world celebrate Lent. We looked at how the first Sunday in Lent became known as Piñata Sunday. We spoke about how the Piñata represents our Blind Faith in God and overcoming sin. @OSJ_RE 🪅
We went to church to pray the way of the cross to fully understand the most important week in Christianity focusing the final days of Jesus’ Passion, death and resurrection. ⛪️ @OSJ_RE@orrellstjames
After mass last Tuesday, Father was kind enough to give up his time and talk us through some important sacred altar vessels in our church. We have then used this information in our @OSJ_RE lessons this week.
@OSJ_Y2@OSJ_RE This is a lovely post St James :) In case it's of interest, we have lots of resources for Holy Week, including a CotW for Palm Sunday, short films, and worksheets. You can find them all free here missiontogether.org.uk/calendar/holy-…
In RE we read the scripture from Luke about how Jesus rode on a colt into Jerusalem and how the people cheered and waved palm branches and laid their cloaks on the floor. We then sang, ‘Give me oil in my lamp’ and added actions to it. @OSJ_RE
As part of our @OSJ_RE lessons, we created artwork in the style of Georges Seurat to show the link between breaking of bread during the feeding of the 5000, the Last Supper and the Eucharist.
In Prayer and Liturgy we celebrated the 3rd week of Lent and read the Gospel of Saint John. We then reflected on how God offers friendship and love to everyone. @OSJ_RE
In RE we read Luke 8:22-25 and we discussed the miracle of Jesus calms the storm. We then looked at Neil Thorogood’s art and and painted our own representations of it. @OSJ_RE
A busy day today, we’ve listened to scripture from John 1:9 thinking about how true light shines on everyone in the world.
We’ve been designing our pictures using chalk, water coloured paint and pencils.
@OSJ_RE
We went to Mass today and Father Philip told us about the Advent wreath and told us what the candles represent. At the end of mass Bobby extinguished the candles using the candle snuffer (douter). @OSJ_RE
Nearing the end of the church’s jubilee year, Year 3 enjoyed joining our cluster schools for a prayer and liturgy session. We read our school prayer for peace from our Mini Jimmies and thought of ways we could help to create peace in our school and daily lives. @OSJ_RE
Thank you Fr Philip for a lovely Mass this morning. Year 4 really enjoyed the final hymn ‘Give me Joy.’ It had everyone singing and clapping along 🎶 @OSJ_RE@orrellstjames
This morning, we completed our ‘Go Forth’ puzzle pieces from yesterday’s Prayer and Liturgy. 🧩
We responded to the scripture in today’s Prayer and Liturgy by sharing all the ways that we hope to promote peace in our school.🕊️ @OSJ_RE
