@tomgoom @AdamMeakins @Claire_Minshull @clairepatella @PhysioArmstrong @clinicaledge @DerekGriffin86 @ShoulderGeek1 @physiojack @EurJRheumatol @runnersworlduk @HorgaLaura Interesting thanks! Amazing that abnormalities were in 90% pre- training 🤯
(I've coached my dad to ignore the ortho and continue running with physio management for now 😏)

Good news for knees! More evidence that physical activity (including running) is not harmful for patients with knee Osteoarthritis.
We still need to ensure exercise is safe and at an appropriate level for each individual but this helps to confirm that avoidance is not the answer! See paper below for more information 👇

@DrSianAllen 10 had a risk of moderate bias, 1 high risk. No low bias then? Sounds like they might have a role in recovery?

@brady_h 1: Walking is cardio if your out of shape. If you took the average American and did lactate testing they’d be in a range simular to an in shape cyclist at 250W. (Actually predibetics would be worse
2: Eliptical isn’t cardio if your a man, because it’s lame.
English

Let’s expand.
1. “Cardio” is a sh*t word, but I’ll play along.
2. Does walking ⬆️ heart rate?
Yes. So it’s cardio(vascular) exercise in the most technical sense.
3. Is walking a strenuous enough version of cardiovascular training to induce adaptations (i.e., VO2 max, endothelial fxn, mitochondrial fxn/content/enzymes)?
Maybe. Maybe not. Depends on the individual.
My heart rate is like, 60-70 bpm while I’m walking. It’s not effective cardio.
Brady Holmer@Brady_H
This will ruffle some feathers. My take: “maybe”
