@MMnotine Correct. However, part of it was the luxury tax. I think the two things collided and IF Bloom was given this autonomy, he did the best he could to get both things done at once with no prospect capital loss.

Either way, it's definitely a depth building move, as this past year proved that depth was a little bit of an issue.

Alright, Xander Bogaerts got the BAG from San Diego. The Red Sox should not have messed around extending him, but you can't fault the Red Sox for not going 11 years at nearly $30 million.
