I want to be an Occupational Therapist because I, too, have sought a return to normality after adversity. I, too, have sought a return to myself. To play a part in that journey for someone would be an honour. 💚 #OccupationalTherapy

The panicked vibe when you ask a patient what day it is and they answer and neither you nor the nurse are sure what day it is either

Any OTs work or have had role-emerging placements in unconventional settings that would be willing to chat to me about their role? Love hearing about what's out there for our diverse profession #OccupationalTherapy

Today I finished my final placement with Age UK. Which also means I’m finally finished with my occupational therapy degree! I made them a cake to say thank you for having me 🎂

An elderly patient called me over. “I know I’m in hospital, but I’m bored and COLD! No one talks to me.” After getting a blanket and coffee, we had a chat. Wards are busy, but our patients get lonely too. She seemed so much happier after. Small interactions have a big impact 👍🏽

@OT_Isabelle It’s generally quite fast paced but there tends to be a great OT PT working relationship, don’t be afraid to say you don’t understand or don’t feel comfortable! But most importantly good luck!! X

If you wake & feel very low, here’s a step-by-step to help, based on scientifically-proven ways to alleviate anxiety & lift mood. Important:if you’re on meds & have missed a dose, sort that first. If you’re frightened by your thoughts, emergency numbers are the last step below...

Many people feel low in January so I’ll be sharing scientifically proven ways to shift your brain biochemistry, alleviate anxiety & lift mood. Research shows that just the *sight* of plants & the fractal patterns of their leaves can decrease stress & this goes for houseplants too

I’m on call this Christmas, but my dad registered as a “student shadower” so that he could spend part of the holiday with me. 😊

Having a tough week mentally but finding it hard to reach out, so I’m here challenging this 😔 All this covid talk, social media disputes and media footage is enough to impact mental health. And under that I’m battling my complex PTSD, low mood, thoughts and Christmas.

“They just told me I have cancer. It’s everywhere in my body. And you say you’re a kidney doctor? What the hell are you doing here?” His voice is gruff, and as he looks at me, I feel the weight of his gaze. For a moment I hesitate, then ask. “Mind if I sit down?” 1/

@Auras_Journey I think it's exacerbated by the unpredictability of healthcare work... Each day is totally different so we never fully know what to expect! You're doing amazingly 💛

I've had such high anxiety about going to work ever since my first job at 14. It followed me to my next job, to my training as a midwife and finally to my job as a qualified midwife. I just can't cope and get extremely anxious before a shift. How can I ever maintain work?!

Health & Care services have become dependent on the workforce being ‘resilient’. And if you aren’t ‘resilient’ you are a failure We MUST change our culture to develop systems that nurture & support #OurNHSPeople so we don’t need to be resilient #APConference2021 My mission ⬆️
