The National Weather Service has canceled the Tornado Watch for Washington, DC. However, a line of showers and thunderstorms is still expected to move through the area between 8 PM and 10 PM tonight (3/16), with wind gusts up to 45–55 mph possible. A Wind Advisory remains in effect until midnight. Continue to use caution when traveling this evening, particularly in wooded areas, where strong winds may bring down branches or debris, and on low-lying roads or trails near water. Never travel through flooded roads. Stay aware of changing weather conditions and make sure you have multiple ways to receive alerts, including: • Enabling Wireless Emergency Alerts on your phone • Signing up for AlertDC notifications: alert.dc.gov

In March 2021, call taker Janay guided Debra Lappin's then fiancé Craig through life-saving CPR until responders arrived. Each year on the anniversary of the call, Craig and Debra visit the OUC to share their story and highlight the essential role of emergency call takers.
