6 years of living in Texas and I've come to the conclusion that the no state income tax thing is basically a scam. The property taxes are so high that they negate any savings. We are still paying as many taxes in Texas as we would in California. You save on gas I guess.

There's a restaurant that I order from 1-2 times a month. I use DoorDash. Every time they leave a paper note in the bag asking me to order direct from their website.
I get it - DoorDash charges 30%+ to the restaurant in fees. One time I went to their website and ordered direct. It took 2.5 hours for them to deliver the food. Now I am back to ordering from DoorDash (takes ~30m) and feeling bad about it.
