Your parents have been married for close to 30 years. You don’t see them as role models for marriage, but two social media couples who got married and divorced in less than two years are making you scared to get married. You see that you don’t have sense.

@VusiThembekwayo I haven't been to the derby for almost 5 years, simply because it is really an awful experience . Very chaotic. I'm in Joburg this weekend ,but didn't even have any interest of going to the stadium.

We need an honest conversation about the out-of-stadium experience and planning of the Soweto derby. I took my family today & the experience outside the suite or the stadium is unacceptably bad. Those staging the derby have to know that how customers experience the entire day is part of the game. Or am I wrong?

Another tip for the gents, no matter how much luggage you travel with, don’t buy a wheeled suitcase, get a duffel bag and a back pack, if there’s more luggage get two duffel bags. Carry your luggage instead of pushing it, stand in that long queue at the airport with all bags on you, this is great for your full body strength. Always maximise on getting stronger, ALWAYS!!!

@Askash @kabelodick Look how this is treated, very little focus on how ridiculous is the R4 billion budget, but mostly positive comments. If it was somewhere in KZN, people would be screaming out of this app

The longest road tunnel in Africa is just outside Paarl, South Africa, and it’s getting a R4 billion upgrade🚇 Over 100 million vehicles have passed through the 3.9km Huguenot Tunnel since it opened in 1988. The current daily average of vehicles passing through the tunnel is 13,000, saving them up to 26 minutes compared to the Du Toitskloof Pass. This has also saved an estimated 5.5 million barrels of fuel to date. When engineers first drilled the mountain in the 1980s, they actually made two tunnels. However, they only finished the inside of one (the South Bore). The second one (the North Bore) has been sitting empty and unused for 40 years. Right now, the Huguenot Tunnel is like a narrow two-way street squeezed into a single tube. Cars going in opposite directions have to share the same space. This upgrade is all about opening the second tunnel to create 4 traffic lanes. Once finished, the tunnels won't be two-way anymore. One tunnel will have two lanes in one direction, and the other will have two lanes in the opposite direction. Another interesting element is the potential HQ for a "First for Africa" Lab. Stellenbosch University is eyeing the site for the Paarl Africa Underground Laboratory (Paul). If it goes ahead, we’re looking at Africa's first-ever subterranean nuclear physics lab hidden within our infrastructure. What are your thoughts on a high-tech physics lab next to a major highway tunnel? I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments.

@KabeloMusic My first running shoes were from Mr Price,so I agree with you there. Their only issue is they don't last long.

I was in the Western Cape along the garden route in a small town not far from Knysna admiring beautiful South Africa and minding my own business, to then remember I forgot my training/gym shoes. They only had Mr Price sports so I bought Maxed Nova Sneakers for R350. This might be a bit of an exaggeration but these are by far the most comfortable gym shoes for me. Now thinking of how many expensive gym shoes I have and none of them come close to this is disheartening for me.

There’s a narrative in South Africa that CA(SA) CEOs kill companies. At face value, I believed it too. I’ve seen businesses lose energy, stop investing, and drift into cost-cutting cycles. Then I looked deeper. When growth disappears, leadership shifts from expansion to protection. Boards stop asking “how do we grow?” and start asking “how do we survive?” That’s when they bring in a Chartered Accountant (CA). Not because CAs kill companies, but because they are trained to control risk, preserve capital, and manage downside. So what looks like the CEO “destroying” the business is often the business already in decline. The CA didn’t cause the stagnation. The stagnation selected the CA. You see this clearly in the media space. Traditional broadcasters and publishers lost growth as audiences fragmented and advertising shifted. Instead of building new models fast enough, many moved into protection mode. Budgets get cut. Teams shrink. Content risk reduces. Innovation slows. From the outside, it looks like leadership failure. From the inside, it’s survival strategy. The real problem is what happens next. If a company stays in defensive mode too long, it loses its ability to create value. Cost-cutting becomes the strategy instead of a tool. That’s when the soul disappears. So the question isn’t: “Are CA CEOs bad?” It’s: “Is this company being run to survive, or to grow?” Because those are two very different playbooks.
