UAP EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE PAYS COURTESY CALL ON IGG
The Executive Committee of the Uganda Association of Prosecutors (UAP) today paid a courtesy call on the Inspector General of Government (IGG), Lady Justice Naluzze Aisha Batala, at her office.
The UAP delegation was led by its President, Ms. Immaculate Angutoko, and included Mr. William Moses Ntumwa (Vice President – IG), Ms. Annette Tuheisomwe (Vice President – UWA), Hajat Fatiina Nakafeero (Secretary General), Ms. Anne Kabajungu (Executive Member) and Ms. Sherry Nalwanga (Member).
During the meeting, Ms. Angutoko congratulated the IGG on her appointment and expressed appreciation for the opportunity to engage with her. She outlined the benefits of UAP membership, including access to training opportunities, professional development and networking among prosecutors. She also commended the IGG’s focus on strengthening prosecution, describing it as a timely and important initiative.
The UAP team highlighted several key issues, including the need to increase the number of prosecutors to match the growing workload, align job titles of legal officers to reflect their professional roles and promote joint training programmes with other prosecutorial agencies to enhance skills and collaboration.
Mr. Ntumwa reaffirmed support for the shift towards prosecution-led investigations, noting that prosecutors are already handling an increasing number of cases. He assured the IGG of their readiness and commitment to delivering results.
In her remarks, the IGG welcomed the delegation and expressed her strong support for the Association. She noted that she continues to identify as a prosecutor and holds the Association close to her heart. She renewed her membership with the UAP and encouraged Mr. Ntumwa to mobilize more legal staff within the Inspectorate to join, observing that over 70 lawyers stand to benefit from membership.
Also present from @IGGUganda were Ms. Hilda Talibba, Director Legal Affairs; Ms. Brenda Kimbugwe, Manager Prosecution and Mr. Muhammad Mwasa, Personal Assistant to the IGG.

It’s deeply emotional how single mothers silently carry the weight of an entire family in a broken, corrupt system becoming both mother and father, while the government that should protect them simply doesn’t care🥹🥹@SarahBireete @DoreenNyanjura 👇 open.substack.com/pub/seguya/p/m…

If you want to see how deep Uganda has sunk, walk into the First Pharmacy outlet just outside Mulago National Referral Hospital. And if you want to see more, continue to Friecca Pharmacy in Wandegeya.
The two places are crowded like a market, filled with desperate Ugandans who have nowhere else to turn.
Abandoned by a broken system, they are forced to queue for hours, clutching crumpled notes for overpriced drugs that should be free, while the system meant to serve them rot in negligence and greed.
Uganda deserves better.

On Monday 24th March, NTV aired a news story about Bernard Ampaire, a visually impaired student at Makerere University. He was recently robbed of his belongings including a laptop, upkeep money and other property in his room at Nsibirwa hall by people who took advantage of his inability to see.
This unfortunate incident has greatly hampered his life and studies in the past few days. We visited him this morning, extended some support and got him a laptop so he can continue with his studies.
We thank NTV for these human-interest stories, and we wish Bernard all the best in his studies.
