Some people might call it absolute indoctrination and producing robotic people who follow rules and lack individuality and 'freedom' but I think, from my experience of living there, it creates harmony and peace. Japan has one of the lowest crime rates of any country. Perhaps students are pushed too hard sometimes, with all their extra curricular activities each evening and there is pressure to get into the best universities. Some students crack and refuse to leave their homes/rooms for years and others have been known to turn to violence (one went to school and beat teacher with a baseball bat. One thing struck me from my time there. They live and work for the group and colleagues, not themselves. They don't have the western 'who am I?' disease which causes us to seek therapy and/or abandon our elderly loved ones to soulless nursing homes ... Family and traditional values are important...

I’ve never prearranged a draw in my career. In the video I’m joking with Ian in a situation with lacking decisive tiebreak rules. This was obviously not an attempt to influence FIDE. It was said in the spirit that I thought FIDE would agree to our proposal. If anything it was a bad joke given the gravity of the situation.
I think the match itself showed two players playing high level chess, equally matched and both deserving of a win.

It is funny how some platforms/streamers downplay the "we can just keep making draws" case. Exactly as they downplayed Magnus' attacks on Vishy 3 days before. As it did not happen. Of course it is easier to fight me than Indian fans. Of course now they will try to shift focus or pretend it was just a joke. Entire PR strategy is in play. So, first you own the part of the major platform/company, then you employ influential people on your projects, then you invite players to the Tour you own based on your judgment, and then all these quasi-independents are on your side, and you can sort of do whatever you want. Not quite. Social Media can't be controlled, and it is all the rage. FIDE also won't keep silent. At least I won't - and I am there to stay for quite some time.

You broke the rules on camera, you only thought they would agree to your proposal because you dropped out of the blitz and made ridiculous demands. FIDE will hopefully take a stand and remind us all that no player is above the game. They failed to hold you accountable when you tried to ruin my life, I hope they’ve learned their lesson.
