NDC’S POLITICAL MASTER STROKE THAT MAINSTREAM SIDELINED ETHNIC GROUPS. Let me start my congratulating Senator Henry Seriake Dickson for being the hero of our democracy as it is today. They didn’t see NDC coming. He has earned a place in the heart of well-meaning Nigerians. His resilience, strife and determination to stand TWICE AS TALL on the face of intimidation & suffocation by the powers of state, has portrayed him as a beacon of a true change in multi-party democracy like Nigeria. The APC led government, not forgetting to mention INEC (you can tell from their faces at the convention venue) that registered NDC didn’t envision the sudden rise to national acceptance not in record time. Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, being an Ijaw man from the minority tribe of South South entnic group, didn’t pose any upstage from the point of the ruling party APC ( Sen. Akpabio was satirical in congratulating Dickson on the floor of the senate) and INEC, just like Omoyele Sowore AAC party, SDP and also ADC before the opposition coalition moved into it, have being a paper weight political platforms (Chaii). Peter Obi tried to manage the crisis in the LP, but the state was bent on destroying so that Peter Obi will not be on the ballot. Peter Obi tried to register a political party but was denied by INEC. Kudos to Peter Obi because his woman-person is the National Chairman of LP. Peter Obi started consultations early and had a political bromance with Senator Henry Seriake Dickson as early as of 12th June 2025 which I believe was a clear pathway for all sidelined regions to benefit. I believe that the early meeting Peter Obi had with Senator Henry Seriake Dickson was to find a suitable Hausa Northerner, not a Fulani Northerner to be the VP. Yaradua, Buhari and Atiku were from the Fulani ethnic group of the North and have ruled Nigeria before in various capacity. This have left the other Northern ethnic groups sidelined like the Kanuri, Nupe,Gbagyi and Tiv. But the coming onboard of Rabiu Kwankwaso to the Southern quest to continue to produce the new President in 2027 have brought true power balancing. Peter Obi (Igbo from South East) as the next president in 2027 must complete as fairness required the remaining four years of Southern slot at the end of the disappointing four (4) years of Tinubu’s Southern APC government. Rabiu Kwankwaso as the VP will guarantee a return to Hausa Northern president in 2031. And more likely, a South South VP in the person of Senator Henry Seriake Dickson. The NDC Flag bearer in 2031 presidential election will be Rabiu Kwankwaso/Seriake Dickson. This will ensure that the minority South South will be compensated for being the vehicle of change and balance of power. Peter Obi’s power calculation is deep rooted in inclusion, justice and fair play. The ruling Tinubu’s APC government doesn’t even trust their VP enough to be the next VP vying with Tinubu in 2027 because there is insinuation about replacing him and APC hasn’t vehemently denied the insinuation and it did upset so many APC supporters from the North that they felt frustrated and disappointed with Tinubu’s APC. There may be other reasons while the Hausa Northerner are not happy with Tinubu government. Insecurity may also be a major issue, but Senator Ali Ndume will easily come to mind when you want to discuss further about this. Tinubu filled every important position or post to his ‘men’. There is no Hausa Northerner in Tinubu’s administration that has that stellar capacity or character to assume leadership from Tinubu in 2031 IF he wins the presidential election in 2027. APC in 11 years + in power cannot boost of a Hausa Northerner that is being positioned for leadership.

Another angle to this when you talk about the Somali referee, Partey and the Senegal 🇸🇳 fans . First the US President is having it tough with the Somalis in Minneapolis about racketeering and fraud. Partey has an ongoing sexual abuse case in the UK 🇬🇧 so the UK and Canada 🇨🇦 share information. Then, during the recent AFCON finals, the Senegalese fans were unruly when the referee awarded the last minute penalty to Morocco so America doesn’t want that in their country. Football is sportsmanship.

"Their so-called" That was nonsensical. You threw your party's presidential candidate in 2027 under the bus because of your vice presidential aspirations in 2031 with Rabiu Kwankwaso as the presidential candidate. This damage control will damage more but Peter Obi will be elected in 2027 and you expect him to appoint those money bags instead of technocrats who will help him move Nigeria forward. Okwute will shock all of you when the time comes.

Last night, I had an interview with Arise TV, where I sympathised with our aspirants over some noticeable irregularities in our just-concluded primaries. I noted that, while not claiming that the exercise was perfect, I urged all of them to bear with the party in view of the circumstances we are managing, which have overwhelmed even bigger parties. This includes parties with a sitting President, 33 Governors, and control of political structures in most states, in the case of the APC, and even the ADC, which is over two years old. I made the case that we are just four months old and have been thrown into the middle of a very tight electoral timeframe, within which we had to carry out membership registration, congresses up to the national convention, primaries up to the national convention, appeal processes, and now the reconciliation phase. I identified the root cause of these challenges, my views on the Electoral Act have been clear: the APC-led majority were wrong in foisting compulsory direct primaries on political parties and the country. Complaints about irregularities in direct primaries are pervasive across all parties and are not peculiar to the NDC. As a matter of fact, considering the age of the NDC and the teeming number of aspirants we have had to manage, we have done quite well. For months since the formation of the NDC, I have been building confidence and receiving respected politicians into its fold. Since the primaries I have been attending to people and managing disagreements across the country on a daily basis. The NDC is on the ascendancy, and I thank Nigerians for their trust and confidence in our party. Even these challenges, which are not peculiar to us, will pass. I also noted that no party has announced any set of winners from its primaries, and neither has the NDC. The public should disregard any such claims in circulation, especially on social media, and await the party's formal submissions through the appropriate channels. The results of party primaries are not announced like school results; they are communicated through formal channels. I thank all our members for their abiding support. In anticipation of these challenges, the 2nd NEC meeting, held a few days ago, approved the composition of a Reconciliation Committee to work with state caucus leaders and other stakeholders in managing grievances. As I have stated before, this is our first set of primaries, and it will also be the last to be conducted manually. The next primaries will be technologically driven and will have none of these issues. I thank all supporters of our party, which has no government officials and is entirely self-funded. I appreciate their donations, contributions, and sacrifices made on behalf of the party. They remain valuable members of our party regardless of the outcome of the primaries. We are in this together, and we are all committed to ensuring the success of our party and our presidential team, their Excellencies Peter Obi and Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, who are my colleagues in this project. This success must be managed carefully, with everyone working together. I advise all members and supporters to avoid meaningless quarrels and infighting. Everyone should support our candidates, from the Presidency down to the least elective office. I urge all the stakeholders, caucus leaders and other leaders in various states who coordinated the primaries to take responsibility and step up their game in terms of coordiating the reconciliation process. Most of the candidates are persons backed and recommended by them, and not me nor the national leadership of the party. It is not a time to shift blames or dodge responsibilities. Since they midwifed and managed the process of the primaries, they should equally help in supporting the party in coordinating the reconciliation process, of which they have the support of the party. ~HSD

Members are encouraged to remain committed to the party and contribute to its growth and sustainability for generations to come. At all times, and for all candidates and aspirants, total allegiance must be to the party and the national interest. On financial probity, the party will enforce strict accountability in the management of party resources by all officers, and party funds must be used strictly for party business. For candidates, there must also be strict accountability for all funding received.
