What is the most beautiful thing you’ve ever seen? For me, it was my newborn baby girl.

Are you planning to watch the Oscars this weekend? I am. Some years I pretend I’m not interested and stay away, but in reality I’m always interested.

On a new chronic disease website, I’ve just confirmed that about 1 to 2% of the population have bipolar disorder. Since I’m bipolar, in a way, this seems like a few to me, and in another way like a lot. Out of 50 to 100 people I meet, 1 is bipolar. Are you?

In the 70s, I used to make movies on silent Super 8 film. My biggest production was a half-hour parody of the Bible, featuring Noah, Moses, and Samson. Have you ever made a movie?

@mleyshonauth For some reason, it turned me off at the time, but from what you say, maybe it’s worth trying.

@OchoaWriter I thought it was a great movie. Totally deserved its Best Picture and other Oscars it won. Costner did a terrific job with it.

I was thinking of watching all the Best Picture Academy Award winners I’ve never seen, but then I realized I’d have to watch DANCES WITH WOLVES. Has anyone ever seen this? Was it any good?

I just read a hypothesis that bipolar disorder originated in Neanderthals, as their way of laying low in the winter (depression) and being hyperactive in the spring (mania). I don’t know if this is true, but as a bipolar person, I kind of like the idea.

@ClaireLLLW81 Yes! My short story “Hunting Dog,” which appeared in the children’s magazine SPIDER, was based on a real incident in which my beagle confronted a squirrel that had gotten into our house.

I think of the original STAR WARS (aka A NEW HOPE) as the best of the series, partly because I’m old enough to have seen it in the theater when it premiered, and none of the sequels blew me away like that one did. What do you think?
