Today I had the privilege to participate in the #BioCap Project Communication Induction and Stakeholder Co-Creation Workshop, a dynamic platform bringing together scientists, communication specialists, policymakers, media practitioners, and other key stakeholders committed to advancing agricultural innovation in Rwanda.
The discussions strongly highlighted that science alone is not enough effective communication is essential. Strategic communication plays a critical role in strengthening public understanding, promoting transparency, and building trust in biotechnology and science-based agricultural innovations.
Through collaborative dialogue, participants explored how stronger partnerships between researchers, communicators, institutions, and media can ensure that accurate, accessible, and impactful information reaches farmers, policymakers, and the wider public.
As stakeholders continues to invest in agricultural transformation, strengthening communication around agricultural technologies will be key to supporting the adoption of improved crop varieties and sustainable farming solutions.
Proud to be part of a generation that is not only advancing agricultural innovation but also amplifying the voices and stories behind it.

Today it was a huge honor for me to be part of the Communication Induction Workshop convened under the #BioCap Project, which brought together partners to align the 2026 workplan and strengthen Rwanda’s Biotechnology Communication Strategy.
During the workshop, I had the opportunity to share my perspective as a potato farmer and agriculture content creator, highlighting the important role that we can play in communicating information about agricultural biotechnology.
As someone who works closely with farmers and also shares agricultural knowledge online, I believe communication is a powerful tool to bridge the gap between scientific innovations and farmers in the field.
In my contribution, I emphasized that When farmers see real examples and understand how innovations like biotechnology can help address challenges such as diseases like late blight in potatoes, they become more confident in adopting solutions that improve productivity and food security.
Through my work as Communicator, I remain committed to connecting farmers with reliable agricultural information, translating complex scientific ideas into simple messages that farmers can understand and trust.
When farmers are well informed, they are empowered to make decisions that improve their farms, their livelihoods, and the future of agriculture in Rwanda.
