I wonder how many folk are looking up the David Mitchell / Robert Webb sketch "Are we the baddies?" on Youtube, in these troubling times...

Believe it or not, your normie friends will not appreciate you warning them that an economic tidal wave is about to hit us and it will last for years. Ask me how I know.

Didn’t take long to go from tax the super-rich to scrap the State pension and forcibly remove granny from her house where she’s lived most of her life. Political discourse is nuts at the moment.

No point worrying whether the state pension is too much or too little. Within a few weeks petrol/diesel will double, and the economy will be shattered. What a mess.

This is a good thread, but it’s important to recognise that the London Underground skews whiter/richer because it’s more expensive than the bus, hence the better behaviour. Spend any time on the upper deck of a London bus and it’s a different experience.

People in a crammed tube train will wait until it arrives at the station, say “I’m sorry” and people will move out of their way to get off easily in every stop. There’s no “hell no I got my spot”. In Peru you start moving to the front several stops ahead of time

@Matt_Pinner Try and do some good in the limited time you have left, if only to make up for the oceans of bad things you did when younger.

@BurnsideWasTosh Some strange folk here, forgetting the Italian barbers of yesteryear (and the Cypriot or Italian chip shop owners). Suspect it's an aversion to working Saturdays that puts off many.

You have to admire the brass neck of the Tories complaining about stamp duty. They made it almost impossible for young people to own a home, sold off our council houses for nothing and created the housing crisis. Now they want to sound outraged that buying a home is expensive.

@ClarkeMicah @Robertbigbags Strange how the Germans were able to invade and conquer Norway (greater distance than Channel!) despite that "strength of the RN". The RAF saved Britain - if they hadn't the Germans could have taken airfields and flown in troops and equipment, plus have the Stukas see off navy,.

2/2 .@robertbigbags The RN had sunk almost all Hitler's destroyers at Narvik, so making a seaborne invasion of Britain even less likely than it had always been. Sealion was never seriously planned or prepared.
Robert Smith@Robertbigbags

@ClarkeMicah @DrChrisParry Actually the real danger to Britain ended when the RAF defeated the Luftwaffe in summer 1940, it gave us the winter of 40/41 to rearm and more importantly launch enough ships to counter any threat in the channel. Ref Churchill: "The Second World War" vol 2
