Visited the @MCD_Delhi solid waste dump site at Bhalswa Landfill to review the progress of ongoing bioremediation efforts. After Hon’ble PM Shri @narendramodi Ji had flagged the three major garbage dump sites in Delhi—Bhalswa, Ghazipur, and Okhla Landfills—as “mountains of garbage” and called for their removal, work began in right earnest in 2022. While significant progress has been made over the past year, much remains to be done. Advised that the latest and emerging global technologies in waste management be explored, along with international benchmarks and expert consultation, to accelerate outcomes. Directed the Municipal Corporation of Delhi to address not only legacy waste but also the continuous inflow of fresh waste at these sites. Emphasized the urgent need to put in place all preventive measures to avoid fire incidents at the dump sites, especially with the onset of summer. Also called upon the Municipal Corporation of Delhi to undertake a concerted effort to involve RWAs and MTAs across Delhi in ensuring segregation of waste at source into dry and wet categories, enabling faster and more effective bioremediation. Interacted with workers on-site to understand their concerns and directed that all necessary health safeguards be ensured by the concessionaires.

A pleasure to engage in an ‘Adda’ with the enlightened residents of Chittaranjan Park at the Deshbandhu Chittaranjan Memorial Society. We had a wide-ranging discussion—from healthcare, law & order, knowledge industries, and AI applications to traffic, flooding, and air pollution—while focusing on a shared vision for Delhi built in partnership with its citizens. I shared my learnings from Delhi and other global cities, and residents offered valuable insights and ideas.
