Methi for Rs 10 is the cope Indians feed themselves to avoid confronting reality.
A 2BHK in Andheri costs Rs 1.8 crore for 600 sqft of carpet with crumbling walls and no parking. Same money gets you a proper house in mid-sized US cities. iPhone 17 Pro costs Rs 1.35 lakh here vs $1,099 (around Rs 1.02 lakh) in the US. Same model cars cost 30-50% more after GST and registration. A decent 5-star hotel room in Mumbai starts at Rs 15,000-25,000 a night, on par with international rates, except the city outside has open sewage.
And you're paying extra for basics that come free elsewhere. You buy an RO system because the tap water isn't fit for washing vegetables, let alone drinking. You buy an inverter because the grid can't hold up. You buy bottled water, air purifiers, diesel generators, all just to reach the baseline quality of life that comes standard in most developed countries.
The food is cheaper, sure, but you're gambling every time you eat or even when you buy medicines. Detergent in milk, lead chromate in turmeric, refined oil passed off as paneer, industrial antifreeze in children's cough syrup that killed 20+ kids in MP last year. Americans pay more for groceries but at least their toddler won't die from a bottle of cough syrup.
India is cheap for sabzi and mazdoori. For anything that an urban salaried professional actually needs to live a decent life, it's one of the most expensive countries on earth relative to what you earn.

His name is Rinku Singh Rahi.
In 2009 he was a PCS officer in Muzaffarnagar.
He exposed a Rs 100 crore scholarship and pension scam.
Three days later someone shot him seven times.
Two bullets hit his face. His jaw shattered. He lost an eye. Lost hearing in one ear.
He spent 4 months in hospital.
When he came out the government transferred him.
He did not quit.
At age 40 with one eye and a broken jaw he appeared for the UPSC exam under the disability quota.
He got AIR 683.
He became an IAS officer.
In July 2025 on his first field posting as SDM in Shahjahanpur he saw a clerk urinating in the office premises.
He made the clerk do squats as punishment.
The lawyers protested saying it was wrong.
Rinku Singh Rahi said there is no shame in accountability and did five squats himself in public.
Within 36 hours he was transferred.
For 8 months he sat at the Revenue Board with no work. Full salary. Zero responsibilities.
On March 31 2026 he resigned.
His resignation letter said there is a special punishment reserved for honest people in India.
They get paid but no work is given to them.
He said even receiving a salary without working is a form of corruption.
He could not do it.
He walked away.

THIS IS THE MOST SIGNIFICANT MOMENT OF THE ENTIRE IRAN WAR. THREAD. 🧵
Let me walk you through what just happened.
Iran shot down a US F-15E Strike Eagle. It went down in southern Iran. The wreckage is confirmed on Iranian soil. The pilot — or pilots — did not eject safely.
Iran's Tasnim News says IRGC forces captured them.
Iran initially claimed it was an F-35. It was an F-15E. Either way, they have the wreckage. And they claim they have the crew.
The US scrambled an immediate rescue operation. F-35s flew combat air patrol overhead. MQ-9 drones monitored the crash site. A C-130 and Black Hawk helicopters went in for extraction.
The rescue failed. One Black Hawk was shot down during the attempt. Multiple aircraft lost in a single operation.
The US is publicly denying all of it. No confirmed losses. No confirmed POWs. Nothing. That silence is deafening.
Now here's where it gets really bad.
This morning, Trump said "take the oil and make a fortune."
This afternoon, Iran announced they have an American prisoner of war.
The same damn day.
March 31: Trump said he was "willing to end the war."
April 3: Trump says take the oil.
April 3: American pilot captured on Iranian soil.
The last time Iran held Americans hostage was 1979. 444 days. Destroyed Carter's entire presidency.
A POW is not just a tragedy. A POW is leverage. Iran now holds a card nobody can take from them.
If that pilot appears on Iranian state television, the political fallout in the US will be unlike anything we've seen.
Over 100 legal experts today called the US strikes potential war crimes. Now a US servicemember is in Iranian custody.
This is not a footnote. This is the story.
