The US picking up a sitting Member of Parliament is deeply concerning. Where is the mutual respect between nations? They could have engaged Ghanaian authorities and allowed him to avail himself for any investigation. Issuing an arrest warrant this way feels disrespectful to Ghana’s sovereignty. What if he comes out innocent? What will happen to the reputational damage?

Abu Trica’s sister, Foba, has passed away. She died in the late hours of Wednesday, April 29, 2026, after a short illness. It is believed that Abu Trica’s arrest, the charges against him, and his continued stay in custody contributed to her unfortunate passing. Abu Trica’s mother is also reportedly terminally ill and has been for months, with her condition worsening with each day he spends in custody.
