There are credible reports that some long-serving Ugandan diplomats no longer prioritize the nation's interests but instead serve other agendas. One such diplomat is Mirjam Blaak Soow, the Head of Uganda's mission to the EU. Uganda's influence in economic and political matters within the EU has waned due to a lack of proactive trade and diplomatic efforts. For example, Kenya attracted $3.5 billion in EU FDI in 2025, whereas Uganda's contribution was only $1.2 billion, reflecting the situation at Uganda's mission in Brussels. Mirjam and her group need to step up their game. She has also failed to effectively counter the opposition’s lies and their influence abroad.
