🇨🇳 Average train experience in China • Stations run like airports (but smoother) • Ticket = your ID/passport, no paper needed • Business class > airline first class (and ~$80 for 1h10) • Scan a QR code at your seat → food delivered • Some fast food delivery guy can even meet you at the next stop • 50,400km built since 2008, that the whole 🇫🇷 / 🇯🇵high speed railway network built per year for the last 20 years! (in the mean time India built 0)

Several leaders I deeply respect and admire have reached out to me to ask how I became "an AI expert." (I am not. Few can claim to be.) What happened was that I took time off after layoffs to read textbooks about machine learning and joined the budding AI and startup community here in London. Then I started consulting with startups in the Bay Area who are trying to reach the developers I understood so well. I was able to integrate with their engineering teams and learn so much from them. The best thing you can do is to work with curious people who are using the tools, reading the papers, and building things. "Fear is the mind killer." And if you or your team is afraid, you need to change that. I keep prioritising working with people who are fearlessly learning and building and with leadership that trusts me and "lets me cook." I traded coveted titles for knowledge and experience, and surrounded myself with builders, doing work instead of talking about it. Perhaps the right long-term play was to stick to "Titles & Talking." But these have been some of the most interesting and exciting years of my tech career. I have learned so much more about how to pivot and move fast from all the startups I've been with; how to build with AI, and how to see into the future. I feel I've grown so much more professionally than if I had kept hunkering down in Big Tech. To all I have worked with and who have taken a chance on working with me, I'm grateful. I am so happy.

The new era of rubber duck debugging is here. I just explained a bug in great details for Claude Code to look at But the cause of the issue hit me before I even got to press send.

We’re big fans and supporters of @tan_stack and it’s now default when starting new projects on Netlify. Really excited to have @jherr on our team! Looking forward to both his continued contributions to TanStack and the work he’ll do to make Netlify the best place for builders.

Welcome aboard, @jherr! If you know Jack, you know he’s been deep in @tan_stack AI, MCP, and the tooling behind AI apps that actually ship.

Switched over to Claude this week. I'm impressed. It "thinks" longer, but then it nails it.

Does everyone need to have an immediate opinion on AI? In this week's podcast, Aaron and I discuss why waiting to build deeper knowledge before sharing opinions is not the same as being against new technology. masteringlaravel.io/daily/2026-03-…

We're doing another Agents Anonymous. Probably the last one - with me - for a while, at least in London. This is for builders. Even better when you wanna do a 5 min demo. We'll have to be quite selective on that so take some time on the signup notes. luma.com/6cnzck71

@rachelnabors It’s almost as if initiatives burning through billions of dollars may eventually need to provide returns higher than a random bank account to keep going
