@GailSimone The stuff he wrote in the late 90s and aughts though just *resonated* with me for myriad reasons though. I connected with so many of those stories on a personal level.

@GailSimone Even though I've been a fan since I was way too young to be reading him (7) when I burned through Cycle of the Werewolf and Eyes of the dragon-- I just think he's gotten better and better with age barring some lightning in the bottle moments like The Stand.

@GailSimone @StephenKing I couldn't agree with everything you said more. I grew up with King being considered a hack/schlock writer as a kid. I am pleased to see he's getting the respect he deserves now. I think he's a genius. I put him with Pratchett and Murakami as my favorite modern writers.

@ithayla The further I get away from my days reading discworld 1-36 (about 15 years now), the more I find myself referencing it as some of the finest modern literature and Pratchett as one of the finest writers of our day. He, Murakami, and King are all geniuses imo.

When someone asks me what my favorite book/series of all time is, I struggle to come up with a single answer. My favorites at the time of asking are always different. I'm not a re-reader, and there are so many stories I love. How can I possibly have a real, all-time favorite?

1) everyone thinks one of the characters is underpowered relative to the others

@Tabletop_Deals Car Wars is phenomenal. I've played it for 30 years and the new edition is finally decently modernized.
That said, I understand it being a somewhat niche game. This new edition is why I finally took up miniature painting though! First items I ever painted!

@ithayla Lisboa is my favorite by a pretty wide margin, though I've yet to play one that I didn't love. Just backed Speakeasy without a second thought. Vinhos currently second fave, though I need to play Gallerist more. Kanban and CO2 also in my collection. I haven't played On Mars yet!
