I was very involved in feminist/activist comics industry circles from the mid-00's to the mid-10's & one thing that "evolved" within these groups was the idea that the perceived left- and right-wing folks within the comics/"geek" community/industry had to be completely "walled off" from one another. The "streams" could never cross. You couldn't have any friends or associates from The Other Side. You couldn't communicate/have dialogue with The Other Side. You couldn't "like" any social media from The Other Side, even if it was something completely non-political. And finally: the goal was to completely remove *anything* & anyone from the industry that was perceived as being from The Other Side (a.k.a. "The Baddies"). Of course: who watches the Watchpersons? Who defines what is "completely" left- or right-wing? Is this a good strategy, walling off each Side from the other, never to communicate (except for fighting w/one another)? And that’s not even taking account the impact this whole extreme (it was extreme) philosophy had on the industry itself; that wasn’t important. It wasn’t about selling the books. It was about making a point. (An important side-note here is the numerous incidents of misogyny practiced by men *within the left-wing circle* that were allowed to go more-or-less unreported/unaddressed. That’s a *whole* other tasty narrative for another day.) Personally, I think “walling off” and hermetically sealing each Side from one another is in itself a highly dangerous tactic that ironically can produce more extremism on each side. Because you end up having a situation where people from different backgrounds & belief systems don’t even get a chance to know other. What started as (I believe) a largely sincere attempt to address real issues of justice ended up becoming as extreme & binary as the Side they hated. “Purity tests” to see if members within this peer/industry group was “loyal” to the Cause were common; social media & even private emails (posted publicly!) scrutinized for any perceived transgressions. I couldn’t deal with this anymore personally. It was not a healthy environment. I was always in a state of heightened negativity. I was always nervous that I woudn’t pass the purity tests, and I would be regularly called out (especially/ironically by my fellow “feminists”) for not being “a real woman” enough. I would be called out for things that increasingly made no sense…the same person proclaiming at dfferent times that I was both “too Right” & then, inexplicably, “too Left.” And I utimately understood why that all went down…because at the end of the day, I didn’t really believe that these Sides should be walled off, completely separated…and that was, frankly, Heresy.

@YueKuratsu I used one for quite a few years was rather good for the time, but they very quickly came out with the jazz drive, which was substantially larger removable discs.

@PyroPupCenter Play versus the AI as little as possible because it is vastly different than playing regular players and if you can play with a few people that are your friends so you’re working as a team even better.

After finally watching #Transformers The Movie. I understand why kids were upset after seeing it. It's the freaking Red Wedding for 10 yr olds. After the first 30 minutes you didn't want to see your favorite character on screen for fear they would die next. Good lord.

Due to screw-ups and delays, I’ve had to spend all day in Reagan National Airport. But I decided to make the best of it. I had a pencil, some pens and a pad of 6 x 6 Bristol boards so I thought I’d see how many JLI headshots I could do. The answer was 8.

@otisframpton Having lost a few close relatives to cancer I can think of a few other reasons to be angry about this beyond the cost of incredibly inadequate care. My only hope now is we’re going to see some progress.

Remember what I said about “scientific breakthroughs happening because AI is about to reveal how much ‘they’ have been hiding from the public?” I have a feeling that a lot of people are about to become very angry about being lied to and fleeced just so they could go on living.
