My mom lives alone in the 4 bedroom, 2.5 bath suburban house I grew up in. She complains that her property taxes are outrageous. She also gets really mad at me if I suggest that she sell it to a family of five and move into a much smaller house. Boomers.

$1,400 rent
$180 electric
$90 water
$85 internet
$160 car insurance
$320 car note
Every month.
On $17 an hour.
That’s $2,720 a month after taxes.
My bills are $2,235.
That leaves $485.
For food, Gas, Clothes, Emergencies, Life.
And they want to know why I’m not saving for retirement.
