New data shows that under Democrats Zohran Mamdani and Kathy Hochul, New York now has the highest taxes in the nation
When you add together the total tax burden for each state. That's income tax, property tax, sales, and excise tax as a share of total income:
- New York topped that list with a tax burden of 12.5%
- Hawaii ranked second at 12.3%
- Maine is 3rd
- Vermont is 4th
- Connecticut is 5th
- New Jersey is 6th
Every one of these states is run by Democrat control. (Vermont is the exception with a Republican governor but the state is run by a Democrat majority legislator)
Alaska had the lowest tax burden at just 5%. Also near the bottom was Tennessee at number 47, Florida at number 46, both with burdens around 6%

Everything will be Electrified In Particular Planes
The aerospace industry is lobbying hard to give the false impression that it is technically impossible to electrify planes because they don't want to invest in cleaner air transport as it will cut into their profits.
It's exactly the same pattern we've seen in the car industry and most governments continue to subsidize the aerospace industry like there's no tomorrow, even though there are solutions.
Every aircraft will fly electrically in the future, over short, medium and even long distances. As in the car industry, it will take decades to transform, but at the moment the industry and politicians are blocking innovation and change.
Someone must disrupt them or the polluting money-making oligopoly we have will never end!

I’ve always leaned a little left when it comes to a few things…
I’ve also leaned a little right on some other things…
But I have never been willing to lose a friend or hate anyone for their political beliefs. There are so many things in life are outside of politics that should bring us together.
Once we can all just agree not to demonize each other for whatever someone believes, that is when we can start to heal.
You don’t have to move closer to their side. You just have to accept that is who they are. We have to learn to live with each other.

I had been following Megapack price cuts lately but the current price is shockingly low. The pricing from last April equates to $482/kWh. The same project today is priced at just $266/kWh. Cheap cells from suppliers certainly helps to enable this pricing, but it also follows that revenue growth might not be as drastic as one would suspect given the huge beat we just saw. I will also be thinking hard about my assumed gross margin for Q2, and I'm fairly certain gross margins will drop from 25% to something a bit less exciting. This is overall very good news, but it requires a nuanced take.
