It’s unacceptable that the federal government continues to sell Nigerian crude at full international benchmark prices to domestic refineries like Dangote Refinery. This policy directly transfers the burden of global oil market fluctuations onto ordinary Nigerians, forcing them to pay skyrocketing pump prices for a resource produced in their own country. Meanwhile, local refineries enjoy profits shielded from domestic realities, while citizens struggle with inflated transportation, food, and electricity costs. Blaming freight, insurance, or global tensions doesn’t justify this it only exposes the federal government’s failure to regulate pricing and protect consumers. Nigeria has the capacity to reduce dependence on imports and stabilize fuel prices, but the government chooses to prioritize refinery profits over the welfare of millions of citizens. Selling crude at global rates while millions suffer is inhumane, exploitative, and politically irresponsible. The government must urgently: •Subsidize domestic crude for refineries, •Ensure transparent pricing mechanisms. •Protect Nigerians from bearing the full brunt of global shocks.
