For the month of May 'An Ancient Irish Prayer to Our Lady' taken from the wonderful little prayer book 'At Our Lady's Altar'. Not sure how 'ancient' this actually is, but I would be interested to trace it, the note appended says it was in daily use in Connacht. @catholicheritag

205th anniversary of the birth of this wonderful multi-talented priest whose "work took on the character of a national monument". His Lives of the Irish Saints inspired my blog and I share this obituarist's regret that it was never published in full: omniumsanctorumhiberniae.com/2021/04/30/bi-…

I finally get to see my grandmother. 93 years old. She’s much happier than three weeks ago

@stevhep Well worth reading. The '3 Marys' are honoured in Irish tradition with the lament Caoineadh na dtrí Muire.

An occasional reminder that my least clicked upon blogpost ever, 'Mary Magdalene & the Dead Christ', is inspired by the Easter story. Link in the next post if anyone can be bothered.

St Patrick left us two pieces of writing: his ‘Confession’ & his ‘Letter to Coroticus’. The ‘Confession’ is a marvellous work & worth reading. See link below to a translation by Bishop Joseph Duffy on ‘Internet Archive’, one of the best translations. [You’ll need to create an account to read it, but it’s free & you have access to many other books on the site.] archive.org/details/patric…
