And Taylor Swift doesn’t come close. Just calling it now. He came up in the last real monoculture. When something hit, it hit everybody on the same night. 47 million Americans watched the moonwalk at Motown 25 and the next morning every kid in the country was trying it on their kitchen floor. That’s not happening again. Taylor Swift sells out stadiums and there are still millions of people who couldn’t pick her song out of a lineup. Everybody now has a lane. MJ never had one. He was loved everywhere at the same time, because there was nowhere else for the culture to go. He shot the Beat It video with actual Crips and Bloods on set, from rival sets in LA, in the same room with him. Nobody else was doing that. Nobody else COULD. He was lonely and weird and broken, and he poured all of it into the music. There’s a reason you can still feel something in Billie Jean and She’s Out of My Life forty years later. That’s a person bleeding into a microphone. Not a brand. The biggest stars now are LLCs. They’re products. Taylor Swift is about breakups within a target demo. Songs are two minutes long because that’s what TikTok pays for. There’s no soul. MJ was a ridiculously talented person who actually moved people. Produced, wrote, danced, made short films it’s pretty insane. Anyways just saw the movie and was reminiscing. It’s like Hollywood. The era of superstars is waning. Don’t think we get another like him.

Regarding the OpenAI case, the judge & jury never actually ruled on the merits of the case, just on a calendar technicality. There is no question to anyone following the case in detail that Altman & Brockman did in fact enrich themselves by stealing a charity. The only question is WHEN they did it! I will be filing an appeal with the Ninth Circuit, because creating a precedent to loot charities is incredibly destructive to charitable giving in America. OpenAI was founded to benefit all of humanity.

I think many people don’t realize the amount of stress and pain that Michael experienced in his life. It’s far too easy for us to judge his addiction on medications. Michael suffered enormous pain and consequences after the infamous Pepsi incident. He also suffered from insomnia. He had different health issues. Not to mention the enormous amount of stress he was under because of his status and the terrible allegations. That has probably taken the biggest toll on his health. If he demanded that those powerful drugs be administered to him, he must have felt terrible. This is in NO WAY to justify those who were so foolish and irresponsible as to give him those drugs. I just wish people understood how difficult it must have been to be in Michael's shoes. I fear a peaceful life wouldn’t have been possibile for him at that point. Teargas in a Hospital, a Thoughtless Act. I have just read the recent troubling reports of how the operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) allegedly stormed the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital in a bid to arrest Professor Eyo Ekpe, a professor of cardiothoracic surgery and deputy chairman of the hospital’s medical advisory committee. While I understand and respect the fact that the EFCC, and indeed, all other government agencies have their constitutional rights to do their jobs without interference, the manner in which some of these jobs are carried out is often deeply troubling. Reportedly, the EFCC operatives who stormed the hospital shot some teargas canisters within the hospital premises which sent medical staff and patients running for safety. This thoughtless act greatly compromised the general safety in the hospital environment and further jeopardised the health of the medical personnel and the sick people in the hospital. I have always said that the most fundamental intangible asset upon which any nation functions effectively is the rule of law and order. The disorderliness allegedly demonstrated by the EFCC operatives at the hospital must not be encouraged. Nothing justifies the use of teargas canisters in a fragile hospital environment. Do we not realise that our hospitals are part of our most critical contributors to development? We must also learn to respect the lives and dignity of our citizens. If a Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery is arrested in such a demeaning manner in a hospital environment, what signals are we sending to other medical professionals working hard to keep our health sector afloat? It is reported that Nigeria has only 80 cardiothoracic surgeons serving its 230 million people, and the Prof Eyo Ekpe is the only one in Akwa Ibom State. Let us learn to do better. Let us condemn and eschew the rascality and disorderliness that have continued to characterise some of our public offices and bring in civility in the discharge of our duties.
