This recent panel discussion proved to be timely, occurring just an hour before the Chairs of the SEC and CFTC announced new token regulations. I want to express my gratitude to my fellow panelists, each of whom brought unique experiences and perspectives on consumer crypto. First, Congressman William Timmons, who was the first representative to configure a self-custody wallet and faced the challenge of having his bank account blocked by his bank. He remains a staunch supporter of the upcoming Clarity Act, and we wish him success in convincing his colleagues to vote for it. Next, Ben Weiss, who founded CoinFlip a decade ago, has established a network of crypto ATMs in over 6,000 locations worldwide. These ATMs serve as a physical bridge between traditional banking and the emerging realm of crypto banking. Of course, the incomparable, Ali Tager, who is addressing the critical need for consumer education in crypto. She emphasizes that educating everyday people on what crypto is and how to use it is essential for advancing consumer crypto in the coming years. Ali shared some compelling statistics, highlighting that more individuals from construction than from finance are engaging with crypto, and more women over 55 than those under 25 are getting involved—further details can be found in the NCA's May State of Crypto report. Even my remarks regarding banks were timely, given the backdoor discussions surrounding the Clarity Act earlier this year. Thank you to @DigitalChamber for hosting this panel.
