Trump's horrific escalation against Iran this weekend is a continuation of the bipartisan policy of U.S. imperialism, including years of vicious sanctions that have ravaged the standard of living for working-class Iranians. Like with his strike on Venezuela, Democratic politicians like my opponent Adam Smith are tut-tutting Trump for not seeking proper "Congressional authorization," all while utterly failing to oppose what is quickly unfolding into a dangerous regional war in the Middle East: youtu.be/qZiL9UIO56Y?si… The reality is that both parties want a war to weaken Iran. Democrats like Adam Smith fully backed the war on Iraq, just as they have fully armed and funded the Israeli state's genocide in Gaza. We need an international, working class antiwar movement, with organized mass civil disobedience and rank-and-file union members organizing towards a general strike to shut down the U.S. war machine. Unfortunately, most of the labor leadership is deeply tied to the same Democratic party which is responsible for these bloody wars. The left and labor movement need independent, class struggle leadership. Watch the full episode on Worker Strike Back's YouTube broadcast, On Strike, and get involved with my Congressional campaign to end the wars, shut down ICE, and end all U.S. military aid to Israel!

Workers Strike Back@wrkrsstrikeback·
Join Workers Strike Back this Sunday, April 12th at 12PM PT / 3PM ET, for our national monthly meeting (workersstrikeback.org/events) to discuss what it will take to build a mass antiwar movement!  Trump has careened from threatening the annihilation of a ‘Whole Civilization” in Iran to announcing a tenuous two-week ceasefire. Meanwhile, Israel is still bombing Lebanon with U.S.-funded weapons and political support from the Democrats and Republicans and the American billionaire class. Trump’s brutal war — funded by BIPARTISAN votes for the near 1 trillion dollar war budget in December 2025 — has unleashed death and destruction in the Middle East. One of the Democrats who voted to approve all that war money for Trump is Congressman Adam Smith, who has also voted to send tens of billions of dollars to Israel for the genocide in Gaza.  An estimated nine million people marched at the March 28th No Kings protest, with opposition to the war on Iran as one of the primary factors fueling the protest. A majority has also been opposed to U.S. funding of the Israeli military. Yet, even with the mass of American working and young people ready to fight, a mass antiwar movement is conspicuously absent. The leadership of the labor movement, especially, and of liberal organizations has refused to build any organized, ongoing opposition to the war. The principal reason for this is that these leaders are overwhelmingly tied to the Democratic Party, which is responsible for the wars along with the Republican Party, and who have historically had an equally warmongering approach toward Iran. Workers Strike Back is one of the few organizations that has been clear that a mass antiwar movement can only be built on an independent basis, with a leadership that is prepared to fight back against both pro-war parties of U.S. capitalism. This is urgent both to stop the horrors in the Middle East, and to prevent more wars, including against the working people in nations like Cuba and Venezuela. RSVP for our monthly meeting of Workers Strike Back to get organized and fight back against both parties of imperialist war. If you’re near Peoria, IL or Rochester, MN, join the discussion in-person. TAX THE RICH — Build Millions of Affordable Homes! Join my Congressional campaign this Saturday! Saturday, April 4th, at 2pm PT Ethiopian Community Center in the Rainier Beach neighborhood of Seattle. Or via livestream kshamasawant.org/events/310/ Working people in Seattle and across the nation have faced an acute housing affordability crisis for years. We need to tax the rich to fund millions of publicly-owned affordable homes built by union labor. We need national rent control without corporate loopholes. During my decade as the lone socialist on the Seattle City Council, I used my position to lead movements that won an unprecedented series of renters’ rights, such as a $10/month cap on late rent fees, six months’ notice of rent increases, economic evictions assistance, and a ban on winter evictions. By mobilizing tens of thousands of people, my office won the historic Amazon Tax, which funds hundreds of millions of dollars annually in affordable housing, paid for by taxing big business. Corporate landlords, real estate companies, and the Democratic Party joined forces to viciously oppose all of these movements. My office and the movements we built defeated them. If we want to end the housing crisis for working people, we will need leadership willing to take the class-struggle approach I did on a national level: to defeat the rich and both parties of big business. Join us this Saturday, April 4th. Get involved and support this campaign! RSVP today to attend in person if you're in the Seattle area or over livestream if you're one of our many supporters from around the nation.

AOC & her fellow sellouts exist to provide a mask of fake progressivism for the Dem Party to hide behind. If you want a REAL fighter in Congress, who's fought the Democrats & won a long list of historic victories for working people, fight to elect independent socialist @cmkshama!
Kshama Sawant@cmkshama

@AOC's NO vote on the amendment to cut $500 million of U.S. funding to the Israeli military is utterly indefensible, and amounts to support for the genocide in Gaza. And except for the handful of them like @RashidaTlaib and @IlhanMN, the same goes for every single one of AOC’s fellow rotten self-described “progressives” in the Democratic Party who have also voted for Israeli military funding, including Pramila Jayapal and Ro Khanna. AOC's gaslighting attempts at justifying her action exposes her even further. She admits Israel is committing a genocide and apparently thinks working people are stupid enough not to see through her claim that funding for Israel’s Iron Dome is acceptable because it’s a “defensive” weapon. No aspect of this genocidal regime’s military can be considered "defensive." Iron Dome, Arrow, David's Sling — all funded by those $500 million — are part of the slaughter and genocide hardware of the Israeli state. They have allowed Israel to not only carry out slaughter in Gaza with impunity, but also attack Iran, Syria, Lebanon, and Yemen. Israel has bombed Yemen on NINE separate occasions just since May of this year. There is nothing defensive, or defensible, about any of this. That slaughter apparatus would be impossible without the hundreds of billions of dollars of U.S. military funding and the unconditional political backing from the U.S. state and its two parties, Democrats and Republicans. It’s good that the leadership of the @DemSocialists publicly spoke in opposition to AOC's vote. It’s also important that the national DSA leadership withdrew their endorsement of her last year over the issue of Israel and Gaza. But @nycDSA — which includes New York City Democratic Mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani — did not withdraw their endorsement. No politician who is voting in favor of this genocide deserves one more working-class vote. AOC is doing the bidding of the Zionists and the warmongers. She is making sure that she votes enough on the side of U.S. imperialism’s agenda in the Middle East so as to signal to them that she is malleable for their interests. While she is less blatant than the most open warmongers in her party, it is a complete betrayal of working and oppressed people only made worse by AOC calling herself a socialist. In September 2021, AOC voted “PRESENT” on a bill to give a billion dollars to Israel’s Iron Dome, which is equivalent to abstaining on this critical vote and refusing to oppose it. She chose to stand on the sidelines as a billion dollars in military aid went to a state that had been carrying out a shockingly brutal occupation of Palestinian lands for over seven decades. All of last year, AOC uncritically backed Biden for President, despite his administration arming Israel to the teeth. Then, at the Democratic National Convention In August, AOC said that Kamala Harris was working “tirelessly” for a ceasefire in Gaza. It was patently obvious that the Biden-Harris administration was not only doing nothing to stop what became the current genocide, but Biden-Harris, the Democrats, and the Republicans were backing Israel to the hilt and giving lucrative contracts to U.S. weapons corporations. In fact, Jack Lew, Biden’s ambassador to Israel, openly boasted about how the Biden-Harris administration never exerted any pressure on Israel to stop bombing Gaza: “Nothing that we ever said was, just stop the war.” In November of last year, AOC sided with the Anti-Defamation League, a powerful Israel lobby group, by voting YES on a disgusting resolution that equates criticism of the Israeli state to anti-Semitism, which is intended, and will be wielded, as a weapon of repression against the antiwar movement. Ending the genocide and the brutal occupation will require building a powerful antiwar movement to defeat the forces of U.S. imperialism in order to win an end to all military funding for Israel. That means mass strike action and mass protests and civil disobedience. It means elected leaders in the U.S. Congress who will not only consistently vote against funding the genocide, but also use their office to mobilize an army of hundreds of thousands of working people to fight the Democratic and Republican Parties, the Zionist lobby, and the billionaires profiting from war and genocide. Democrats like AOC are doing none of this. Voting the right way is the lowest possible bar, and AOC has repeatedly failed to even do that.

Thank you to everyone who joined my campaign's contingent at the No Kings protest in Seattle! Join my campaign this Saturday, April 4th @ 2pm PT in Seattle, on the livestream, or at a watch party for our April Town Hall. I'll be speaking about the fight to tax the rich to build millions of affordable homes! RSVP at kshamasawant.org/events/310/ We talked to thousands of working people at No Kings about the fight to fund healthcare, not war, and tax the rich. We continued to collect signatures to get our independent revolutionary socialist campaign on the ballot, and we raised over $1,800! We talked to people about my record as the lone socialist on the Seattle City council for ten years, fighting the Democratic Party and winning major victories for working people like the nation's highest minimum wage and the Amazon Tax. We compared this to the genocidal, warmongering, anti-worker record of my opponent, Democrat Adam Smith, who has held office for nearly 30 years. Smith has sent tens of billions of dollars of weapons to Israel for the genocide in Gaza. He voted for the Iraq War. He voted to create ICE and has repeatedly voted to fund and expand ICE. He voted to cut $150 billion from Medicaid and Medicare. The response to us from people at the protest was clear excitement for our track record of fighting and winning for working people, and our bold working-class demands: 💥SHUT DOWN ICE! STOP THE DEPORTATIONS! SHUT DOWN THE DETENTION CENTERS! 💥END ALL MILITARY AID TO ISRAEL! END THE GENOCIDE IN GAZA! END THE OCCUPATION OF PALESTINE! 💥FREE HEALTHCARE FOR ALL — TAX THE RICH! 💥NATIONAL RENT CONTROL! BUILD MILLIONS OF AFFORDABLE, PUBLICLY-OWNED HOMES! Winning any of these demands will require a direct challenge to both parties of big business, genocide, and war, the Democrats and the Republicans. Working people need fighting leadership to call for mass protests, coordinated civil disobedience, and strike action, centered around clear demands and a strategy to win them. Join my campaign to fight to elect the first ever revolutionary socialist to Congress so we can turn politics upside down nationally like we did for a decade in Seattle using my City Council office!

TOMORROW, SUNDAY 3/29, 2PM PT / 5PM ET. Tech Workers National Zoom Meeting for our revolutionary socialist Congressional campaign! Join tech workers from around the nation! RSVVP: kshamasawant.org/events/274/ Capitalism is a zero sum game: everything workers win, we have to wrench from the bosses, and they will likewise fight tooth and nail to snatch it back. That's why we need to take a bold, class struggle strategy to winning victories, rather than the failed, business unionist approach that hopes the bosses will "negotiate in good faith." I used the class struggle strategy throughout my decade as the lone socialist on the Seattle City Council. I used my office to organize working people to win the nation's highest minimum wage, the Amazon Tax, and landmark renters' rights. Tech workers were part of winning these victories! Working people desperately need this kind of leadership on a national level. My campaign for Congress is demanding an end to war and genocide in the Middle East, shutting down ICE, and taxing the rich to fund free healthcare and affordable housing. Winning any of that will mean taking on both the Republican and Democratic parties. Tech workers need to be part of building this campaign. Let's flip the script on American politics by electing the first-ever revolutionary socialist to the U.S. Congress. Join us this Sunday over Zoom, wherever you are nationally, to get involved!

THIS FRIDAY, 3/27 AT 7 PM IN SEATTLE'S GEORGETOWN NEIGHBORHOOD. Join us at the Jules Maes Saloon for a fundraiser concert supporting my revolutionary socialist campaign for Congress! Featuring Dead Quiet, Chima The Stubborn, and comedy group Unexpected Productions! The track record of victories working people and I won through my Seattle City Council office is unparalleled. We won the nation's highest minimum wage, defeated Jeff Bezos and won the Amazon Tax, and beat corporate landlords to win landmark renters' rights. We desperately need to take that movement-building approach to Congress! My campaign is fighting to win free healthcare and affordable housing for all by taxing the rich; to end the genocide, the wars, and all military aid to Israel; and to shut down ICE and the detention centers. As Neil says, we can only win any of this by building the strongest possible campaign to send the first-ever revolutionary socialist to Congress. Working people like Neil from across Washington state and the nation are doorknocking, postering, phonebanking, hosting Zoom and in-person house party fundraisers, and donating to this campaign. They realize what a gamechanger it would be for working-class politics. But we urgently need your help! Join us tomorrow night, Friday 3/27, at 7 PM, to listen to some great live music, enjoy some comedy, and support this historic campaign.

I urge Seattle DSA members to attend the Saturday convention and vote in support of our campaign for Congress. Our campaign is fighting to end all U.S. military aid to Israel, to shut down ICE, and to win free healthcare for all funded by taxing the rich. This is a historic opportunity to elect the first-ever revolutionary socialist to the U.S. Congress, and to build on the record of unparalleled victories we have won through class struggle in Seattle, like the nation's highest minimum wage, the Amazon Tax, and landmark renters' rights. Unfortunately, this horrific post I'm quoting could not go without a response. This DSA member is referring to the murder of Leon Trotsky by one of Stalin's agents. Trotsky and Lenin were two of the indispensable leaders of the 1917 Russian Revolution, the most progressive event in modern human history. It's a sad commentary on the current state of the left that 45 people have clicked like on the post by this DSA member. I urge DSA leadership to disavow it. Regarding this person's accusation, it is my responsibility as a socialist to raise criticisms of self-identified socialists like AOC and Mamdani when they betray working people. I don't apologize for that. Nor do I apologize for pointing out that the Democratic Party is a dead end for our movements. @SeattleDSA @DemSocialists

I will be on a speaking tour in the Bay Area, March 20-25! If you are in or near California’s Bay Area, join me on my SIX-DAY SIX-CITY speaking tour, starting this Friday, March 20th! I will speak about how I used my office as a revolutionary socialist to organize working people to win historic victories like the nation’s highest minimum wage, the Amazon Tax to fund affordable housing, free abortion, and unprecedented renters’ rights. My office went to war against the political establishment and turned politics upside down in Seattle over the decade that I was on the City Council. I will also talk about the strategy needed to end the war on Iran, the genocide in Gaza, and all U.S. military aid to Israel. I will talk about the urgent need for labor strike actions, including a general strike, to fight against one dollar more for imperialist war. I will also talk about the organization I founded, Workers Strike Back, and why working people need to build militant mass movements to fight back against the billionaires and their political servants in both parties. We need a new party for working people. I will also talk about the strategy that will be needed to win free healthcare for all funded by taxing the rich, and why the movement for CalCare (universal healthcare in California) will need to fight the Democratic Party if it is to win. Speaking alongside me will be Jeff Mackler, National Secretary, Socialist Action; twice Socialist Action’s candidate for the U.S. presidency; Dir., Mobilization to Free Mumia Abu-Jamal; Nat’l Steering Committee, United Nat’l Antiwar Coalition; Founder, Nor. Cal. Climate Coalition. In the words of the Seattle Times, my revolutionary socialist City Council office “will appropriately get credit for coming out of nowhere to commandeer the city’s political agenda… In process-loving Seattle, the minimum wage is happening as quickly as a lightning strike.” The fight for $15 spread from Seattle around the country, and tens of millions of workers won raises in the wake of that historic victory! Seattle has the highest minimum wage in the nation, now $21.30, because our 15 Now movement defeated the attacks from big business and the Democratic Party to win automatic inflation adjustment. Our campaign for the U.S. Congress against warmongering Democrat Adam Smith is fighting for: - Free Healthcare For All — Tax The Rich! - Shut Down ICE and the Detention Centers! Stop The Deportations! - End All Military Aid To Israel. End The Occupation Of Palestine! No War On Iran! - National Rent Control & Build Millions Of Affordable Publicly-Owned Homes! There is incredible urgency to build working-class movements in the context of the brutal war on Iran and attacks on working people and immigrants in the United States. We need mass protests and mass strike action, alongside a revolt against the business unionist labor leadership, which is tied at the hip to the Democratic Party and has utterly failed to fight back.

Join me and my campaign to Protest Against the War Profiteer Convention! TODAY, Wednesday, March 18th, 12 pm Seattle Convention Center Washington state’s Democratic Governor. Bob Ferguson, is warmly welcoming the executives of over 700 war profiteering companies to Seattle today. Ferguson says that he is “proud to welcome” companies like Lockheed Martin, RTX (formerly Raytheon), Northrop Grumman, General Dynamics, Boeing. These are the TOP FIVE war contractors in the United States. Ferguson is also welcoming other companies like Palantir. SpaceX, Textron, L3Harris Technologies, Leidos, Amentum, and Booz Allen Hamilton, which are also profiting from imperialist wars. These are all companies that have been contracted for the genocide in Gaza and for the current war on Iran. Democratic Governor Ferguson is welcoming these purveyors of death and destruction at the same time that they have just promised Trump that they will “quadruple production” of weapons for the Iran war. Specifically, the chief executives of RTX, Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Northrop Grumman, BAE Systems, L3Harris Missile Solutions and Honeywell Aerospace met with Trump last week. These companies are sitting on billions of dollars of order backlogs, some of which are greater than the gross domestic products of several nations. The Democrats in Congress, like my opponent, Adam Smith, joined the Republicans in giving essentially a blank check to Trump for his wars. A majority of Democrats like Adam Smith voted in December to give Trump over $900 billion in new war spending, which Trump is using for his current war on Iran. This war has already killed thousands of people in Iran, Lebanon, Iraq, and other nations, and forcibly displaced hundreds of thousands. Democrats like Adam Smith, under Democratic President Biden, handed over tens of billions of dollars for the genocide in Gaza and are still funding both the genocide and the decades-long brutal occupation of Palestinian lands. The billionaire and multimillionaire executives and major shareholders who profit from the war contracts are profiting directly from bloodshed, deaths of babies and children, maiming and grave physical injuries, and widespread destruction of cities and nations. It is Republicans and Democrats who give the billionaires and multimillionaires those profits. The wealthy individuals profiting from these companies, in turn, bankroll the campaigns of both Republicans and Democrats, including Adam Smith. The bipartisan agenda of imperialist war by the billionaire class can only be defeated by breakthroughs in building a militant movement. That's why we need labor strike actions, including a general strike. That's also why fighting to elect as the first-ever revolutionary socialist to Congress is the most important campaign for the working class nationally this year.

Trump's war on Iran, funded by both Democrats and Republicans, is threatening to spiral into a broader regional conflict, with horrifying consequences for millions of working people: workersstrikeback.org/events/2026-ma… Thousands have been killed, tens of thousands have been injured, and over four million people have been forcibly displaced across the region, including Iran and Lebanon. The global economy has been thrown into crisis with the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, with working and poor people internationally being forced to bear the cost of massive price increases. A majority of the Democrats in the House and Senate voted alongside the Republican Party last December for more than $900 billion for war funding. This accounted for the overwhelming bulk of the trillion dollars of military spending approved last year, making it the largest military spending approved in U.S. history, and effectively a blank check for Trump to carry out this war on Iran. Democrats and Republicans have also together carried out vicious sanctions against Iran for decades, which have eviscerated the standards of living for working and poor people in Iran. The only way to bring an end to this horror is by using working-class power to present a real threat to both the Democratic and Republican parties, both parties of capitalism, genocide, and war, and to the billionaires and multimillionaires they represent. Unfortunately, the vast majority of the labor leadership has tied itself to the Democratic Party and has offered no leadership whatsoever in fighting to stop this war. We need political leaders to help organize mass civil disobedience and strike action to shut down the imperialist profit machine. We need leaders like Workers Strike Back founder, Kshama Sawant, who is running as an independent revolutionary socialist for Congress against warmongering Democrat Adam Smith. Join Workers Strike Back this Sunday at 12pm PT / 3pm ET for our national meeting and discussion on how we can get organized to build toward such a movement and fight to elect Kshama to Congress! RSVP today to join over Zoom or find a watch party near you.

The Seattle Times is reporting that the city's new mayor, Democrat Katie Wilson, a self-described democratic socialist, drew "sustained applause" from business executives when she said that Seattle’s Amazon Tax puts them at a "disadvantage." Wilson also assured the business executives that she "will be doing some significant reprioritization, otherwise known as cuts.” This is blatant neoliberalism from a self-proclaimed "democratic socialist." This is yet another reminder that electing more "progressive" Democrats is simply not the way forward for working people. Seattle's Amazon Tax was won by my revolutionary socialist City Council office in 2020. We won it not by me making backroom deals with business, but by us building a fighting movement against both big business and the Democratic Party. The Amazon Tax raises hundreds of millions of dollars annually by taxing the city's wealthiest corporations to fund affordable housing. We need a new party for the working class, led by those who have a track record of fighting against the wealthy and the Democratic and Republican parties that represent them. Voting for more "progressive" Democrats is simply not the way to end imperialist wars and genocide or to win taxes on the rich to fund the needs of working and poor people. We need independent fighters who are willing to go to war against the elite, as I did for ten years with my Seattle City Council office. This is why I'm running for Congress.

No War on Iran!  No War in the Middle East! Mass Civil Disobedience & General Strike Urgently Needed! Trump and Netanyahu carried out a massive joint military attack on Iran last night. This is a horrific escalation that once again threatens to engulf the entire Middle East in a disastrous and protracted war.  Our campaign completely opposes and condemns this bipartisan assault on Iran by U.S. imperialism. Conflict with Iran has been provoked for decades by both the Republicans and Democrats, including my opponent, warmongering Democratic Congressmember Adam Smith, who has also supported the genocide in Gaza. Both parties have carried out decades of devastating sanctions on Iranian working and poor people.   We stand with the working and oppressed people of Iran, in the Middle East region, and everywhere. We need a global antiwar movement and independent struggle, including general strikes, of the American, Iranian, and international working class in order to defeat U.S. and Western imperialism and to bring down capitalism and its ruling classes everywhere.  As living standards and conditions for working people everywhere are declining, hundreds of billions of dollars are being spent on these bloody conflicts. Millions of working people will be badly impacted, especially if there is a drawn-out war. We need political and labor leadership that will organize against imperialist war and unambiguously fight for working people. Unfortunately, the overwhelming majority of American labor leadership is tied to the Democratic Party, and has failed to carry out strike actions against Trump’s ICE terror and the repeated bipartisan attacks on working people.  Our campaign will be organizing nationally against the war on Iran. We will be fighting alongside Workers Strike Back, the organization I helped launch to build on the fighting strategy we used to win historic working-class victories in Seattle through my socialist City Council office. We oppose the Republican and Democratic parties of U.S. imperialism that have built the war machine and spread violence across the world. Both support this brutal attack on Iran. Trump’s attempts at “regime change” in Iran are really about wanting to install a government loyal to U.S. imperialism, a goal shared by the Democratic Party. The 1953-1979 despotic regime of the Shah of Iran was also strongly supported by both parties.  At the same time, we completely oppose the right-wing, Islamist, anti-worker Iranian regime, which has just carried out a horrific crackdown of the historic protest movement there, and massacred thousands of Iranian working people at the protests. Neither U.S. imperialism nor the Iranian ruling class in any way stand for the interests of working and oppressed people, and we cannot support either. We need a global working-class antiwar movement and mass strike actions by the labor movement. We need to fight for an alternative to capitalism’s future of war and catastrophe. The fight against capitalism must include independent revolutionary socialist campaigns, like our Congressional campaign this year, that can present a real threat to both parties of U.S. capitalism.  - Stop the war on Iran, the genocide in Gaza, and all U.S. military funding to Israel! NO support for imperialist war!  - Money for housing and healthcare, not war! Build a global antiwar movement, including mass protests, civil disobedience, and general strikes. - Shut down ICE and the detention centers, and stop the deportations!  kshamasawant.org/no-war-on-iran/
