Earlier today at about 2:31pm along Uturu Road near Abia State University (ABSU), I experienced one of the most traumatizing moments of my life. I boarded a mini bus to get an item back to my lodge when some policemen without name tags stopped our vehicle at a checkpoint. They ordered me to step down, which I peacefully did. Immediately, they collected another passenger’s phone and began interrogating him aggressively about what he does for a living. Moments later, one of them turned to me and asked why I was using 3 phones. I calmly explained to them that I am a student and that the phones were bought with my hard-earned money. Instead of listening, they dragged me, my brother, and another passenger into a nearby bush and started harassing us for absolutely no reason. Before we knew what was happening, more officers joined them and they began beating us mercilessly like criminals, even though we were just students who came to ABSU to study and build our future. My brother and I sustained serious injuries during the assault. My ear is currently blocked, I can barely hear properly, and it has been bleeding because of the torture we faced in the hands of these officers...my phone screen also got broken. The most painful part was the constant threats they made. They said they could shoot us and nothing would happen. They also said they could make sure we never graduate from school. Imagine hearing such terrifying words from the same people meant to protect citizens. My only “crime” was owning 3 phones. ABSU students are no longer feeling safe. Police harassment, intimidation, and extortion around Uturu are becoming unbearable. Students are living in fear every day. We came here for education, not to be brutalized and treated like criminals for no reason💔. @PoliceNG @TunjiDisu1 @PoliceNG_CRU @dammiedammie35 @ChuksEricE @HarrisonBbi18 @MaureenChinaka @alexottiofr @winexviv @aleeygiwa @YomiShogunle

IF YOU ARE OWING A LOAN RIGHT NOW… READ THIS BEFORE YOU PANIC. Because what I’m about to tell you might save you from fear… harassment… and costly mistakes. I saw this comment in one of my recent post.. “I borrowed money… now they’ve sent someone to my house… I’m scared… I don’t even have the money to pay now…” And I said to myself… “This is not a money problem… this is a knowledge problem.” FIRST... If you are owing a loan… DO NOT RUN. Because... Running will only make the situation worse. Let me be very honest with you… No licensed loan company can force you to pay money you genuinely DO NOT HAVE. YES. Read that again. As a Nigeria Financial Literacy Advocate, let me explain this with a simple story in a way that even Mama Ngozi that sells Tomatoes in the Village will understand. Imagine: Mama Ngozi… sells tomatoes in the village. One day, she borrows ₦500,000 from the village head to restock her shop. Agreement: 10% interest every month Now... Mama Ngozi smiles and says: “Ah… 10% is small na…” But she doesn’t understand something… That... 10% per month = 120% per year. Meaning… ₦500,000 can turn into ₦1,000,000+ Now business slows down… She cannot pay. What should she do? WRONG MOVE: She runs away. She stops picking calls. She hides. Result? Interest keeps growing Pressure increases Fear increases RIGHT MOVE: Mama Ngozi goes back to the village head and says: “Oga… I am not running… I am ready to pay… but I don’t have everything now…” “I need a plan.” That one sentence changes everything. If you are in this situation… Follow this step-by-step: 1: CONTACT THEM YOURSELF Don’t wait for pressure. Call them. Say clearly: “Yes, I’m owing.” “I’m not running.” “I want to pay.” This alone reduces 50% of the tension. 2: NEGOTIATE THE INTEREST This is where most people don’t know their power. If your loan has grown too much… Ask them to FREEZE or REDUCE interest For Example: “Mama Ngozi borrowed ₦500k… now it’s ₦1m… she will say: i cannot handle this… let’s restructure it.” Many will agree if you show seriousness. 3: REQUEST A PAYMENT PLAN This is called LOAN RESTRUCTURING. For Example: If you earn ₦200k Salary monthly: Pay ₦20k - ₦40k monthly (10%–20%) Not everything at once oooh. Because... Consistency is more important than pressure. 4: NEVER USE ALL YOUR INCOME This is where many people destroy themselves. They try to pay everything at once… Then… They borrow another loan to survive And enter a cycle of debt. Don’t do that. That's what we called "Financial Trap" Now... LET ME CLEAR YOUR FEAR... Many people are scared of arrest. But let me tell you the truth: Owing a loan is NOT a criminal offense. YES. It is a CIVIL matter. Even if they take you to police… You can say: “Yes, I’m owing.” “I don’t have it now.” “Here is my payment plan.” Case closed. But...Iking.... WHEN DOES IT BECOME A PROBLEM? Oya relax... let me explain.... It's Only when: You run away You ignore them You refuse to communicate That’s when pressure increases. Debt is not your enemy. Ignorance is. Because… The same loan that can build you… Can destroy you… if you don’t understand it. So... Here's my Advice: Don’t be afraid. Be responsible. Face it. Structure it. Pay it small small. And move on with your life. Read this again. Because one decision you make today… Can either trap you in debt… Or set you free. © Iking Ferry

Looks like we are exposing exploitative companies today, esp. the ones who position as global brands. Staff from globacom are also reaching out. How do you treat people this way? You don't want to know how much they pay their "expatriates". I'm waiting for the offer letter.
