As I reflect on 2025, my 7th year on this platform, I celebrate the @BlueJays’ phenomenal World Series run, @MovieMayor’s 10,000th post shewing the satirical underbelly of our fine city, and @OneGalsToronto’s views of the delightful terrazzos that I used to just float past. 1/3

@OneGalsToronto Going to be ccccccold! But hoping to skate.

After 5 months of anxiety, husband’s stage 2 lung cancer cancer gone. Surgery still ahead to reach the goal of NED (no evidence of disease.) We are happily stunned. Only those on the same path, patient and caregiver, know this exhaustion and hoped for relief. #cancer
English

@CaitlinKellyNYC Oh, fantastic! I hope you have the most marvelous time and that the city puts on its best for you 😀
English

@OneGalsToronto Thank you!! Heading to Toronto this weekend for a week of pure indulgence and old friends.
English

@Basscadet_404 Hmm, don’t recall that one but I’ll keep an eye out for it next time I’m in the area.
English

@OneGalsToronto I remember a coffee shop by Wallace and Lansdowne and it had a really old giant map of Toronto.. I wonder if that place is still there.
English

@Basscadet_404 Oh wow, hadn’t thought about that for some time. Maple Leaf, if I recall. The scent of my childhood, mingled with the chocolate breezes which drifted over from Rowntree on Sterling. Yeah, that place is gone now - or so my nose tells me.
English

@OneGalsToronto Is that very stenchy bone melting factory still south of Wallace next to what I remember was an empty ttc property that probably used to be a streetcar shop?
English

@Basscadet_404 Yeah, it’s pretty wild - a good deal different from when I was growing up there.
English

@OneGalsToronto All these new tracks. The area changed. I used to live on Armstrong.
English

@lilwaynekennedy I don’t know of any updates on its status but there was a fire (though perhaps not arson) a few years ago and someone staying in the building died.
English

@OneGalsToronto Has anyone written an update to that story in a few years? Last I understood they were letting it rot because the city didn't allow what they wanted. Only thing I'm surprised at is that there's not been arson yet.
English

@SturdyHugh Thank you, Hugh. It certainly is like nothing else.
All my best to you - hope you’re doing okay too.
English

@OneGalsToronto Thank you K. Hope you are ding ok. Caregiving is a challenge.
English

It still speaks to me, and so it hath been adopted. Thank you, @OneGalsToronto.
English

@OneGalsToronto Wow, I live near there & I never noticed that, LOL !
English

@SocMedGirlyyj Hurrah! I’m glad they’ve worked in our favour too! 💙💚
English

@OneGalsToronto I have taken too many of those colours over the years, but I find them lovely.😍
Thankfully, you randomly came into my feed and I'm so happy the algos were positive for a change! 🩷
English

TIL there's a thing called #TileTuesday, and I am here for it! I've been taking photos of tiles for years. I might also expand the definition to cement "tiles". 😉
Here's a colour combo that I never tire of, blue and green and all their variations.💙💚🩵
h/t @OneGalsToronto! 🙏

English

@SturdyHugh Me too.
I was able to identify two Joes that lived here. The first was a Joseph McCarthy (I know) in 1915. The second was a tailor named Joe Ujhegyi in the late '50s. Wish I knew for certain who this was done for.
English

@ArtWong128 I was thinking something similar about their weight bearing, though being in the city they wouldn’t be getting any more snow than other places.
It’s a shame they’re not more common, they’re really neat - but I suppose they pose too much of a tripping hazard.
English

@OneGalsToronto I’m glad they’re set aside! Are these domed manhole covers located in spots that might collect a lot of snow? The domed shape is perhaps a little stronger to vertical loads 🤔
English

Another McIntyre & Taylor cover near Bathurst and Bloor. This one is slightly domed and has Toronto spelled correctly.

K Taylor@OneGalsToronto
One of the lovely McIntyre & Taylor covers that misspells Toronto as Tornoto. Queen St W, near Manning
