You can openly discuss Europe and America without being labeled European, and people assume you’re just being analytical or neutral.
But the moment you talk about India and America in the same breath—especially if you’re Indian or of Indian origin—suddenly you’re “not American enough” or accused of divided loyalties.
How is that fair?
It’s a clear double standard: one group’s transnational identity or commentary is treated as normal, sophisticated, even patriotic. The other’s is immediately seen as suspect, foreign, or disloyal.
Why is it acceptable for some to have emotional, cultural, or intellectual ties across borders, but not for others?
