The Sidetrack Weekend event was definitely worth the $35. It really delivered on what players wanted. First off, the venue was massive—honestly, one of the biggest we’ve had in a while. The last time we had a venue this spacious was the Bank. You could actually move around without bumping into people every two seconds. As for food and drinks, they had a solid taco man, a bomb ass lemonade stand (except for Jynx Maze), and a bar to grab a drink or two. It definitely covered the basics. The event team was on point, too. Stephen, in particular, is always going the extra mile, making sure to talk to everyone and get feedback on how things are going. It’s clear he’s committed to making each event better than the last. The TOs were also great—no nonsense, making sure everything ran smoothly. One of the best parts, though, was the space they provided for casuals during the tournament. Players could bring their setups, play any fighting game they wanted, and get their salty runbacks after the tourney. It’s not every day you get the chance to play with people you don’t normally get to match up against. Overall, they provide everything they can to make the event a success. Ultimately, it’s up to the players to show up and make it happen. Oh, and don’t forget the 40k event next door—it was well worth the price, too!

@mk4lll @RealMikeHollow For starters, delete the Rage system. Heat already does EVERYTHING. Combo into Rage Art while still maintaining Heat, then Heat Smash into +frame pressure is so egregious.

Tekken is a shell of its former self. When we did the year in review for it on stream a few days ago I gave it 5/10, but I was being very generous. This game is not fun to play beyond 30 minutes. I hope Season 2 fixes a lot of things but the more I look at this game the more I wonder if that's even possible. Heat, rage and rage art being readily available every round just turns it into a silly and exhausting experience. I'm not lying when I say that this is the worst first season of Tekken that I have ever played in my life and I've been playing Tekken since the 1st one. I don't know if Bandai Namco and Harada are keeping the sales figures to themselves and not announcing milestones, but I do find it weird that Mortal Kombat announced 5 million sold and Street Fighter is on like 4.5 million but absolutely nothing from the Tekken team since it hit 2 million in the first month. Judging by the player numbers on Steam (which sit at around 6-8k a day) and the fact that it's not in the top 15 most played PlayStation games (Mortal Kombats are roughly 6-10k a day on Playstation for reference), I wouldn't be surprised if they've failed to push units. If Tekken hasn't hit 3 million sales yet, I wouldn't be surprised. Why buy a game that is frustrating from beginning to end? In its current state I recommend Tekken 8 to nobody. The poor, exhausting and repetitive rush down gameplay is enough to turn any die hard off this game but that also comes with a lack of alternative modes like team battle for lobbies or offline, survival or time attack. Poor implementation for punishing rage quitters (which came extremely late as well), and a heavy emphasis on dog shit in the Tekken store, Tekken 8 has a mountain to climb and with all of the silly gimmicks piled on top of the battle system, that might be impossible. Tekken 8 season 1 did not deliver.
