Without the JASM factory, Society 5.0 would also not be possible. Consequently, Japan decided to secure advanced semiconductor production on its own national territory. Ayway, Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry states the following on one hand:
"The Fourth Industrial Revolution, driven by technological innovations such as AI, IoT, big data, and blockchain, is transforming production, consumption, healthcare, public services, and working styles... The realization of Society 5.0 depends on these technologies, and semiconductors constitute their foundation."
On the other hand, Society 5.0 is described as a "human-centered society" in which cyberspace and physical space are highly integrated through advanced technologies in order to reconcile economic growth with the resolution of social challenges.
Therefore, semiconductors are the indispensable material foundation of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Without strengthened domestic production through JASM facrory, achieving the cyber-physical fusion required for Society 5.0 would be impossible, for example in smart factories, smart cities, autonomous vehicles, robotics, telemedicine, digital twins, and other advanced infrastructures.
