@T_om_s I always thought that convicting someone on the basis of statistics is problematic because neither the "experts", nor the judiciary, nor the lawyers, nor the police, nor the jury can be trusted to understand statistics. I was never comfortable with the conviction.

Belief in Lucy Letby’s innocence is downside of democratisation by social media. It’s toxic mix of conspiracy theories & true crime podcasts. Everyone thinks they can be an expert & nothing is as it seems. When truth is you’re not an expert & simplest explanation is most likely.

Sorry to contradict this councillor so early in her job, but the cycle lanes actually DO make the roads useable for thousands of people who have been terrorised from using them - E.g. Children, people who don’t own cars, the elderly, anyone who want to cycle, i.e. most residents.

Here's a radical idea. Let the market decide whether land should be used for industrial uses (e.g. dark kitchens, warehouses, lumber yards) or housing.

Good news! Asda is set to build 1500 homes in London near Britain's largest railway station and multiple tube stops.
Yet on almost all of the land surrounding the site, housing development is banned because the land is reserved for industrial use!
