Jansenists were the cutting edge of 18th century Catholic reform, which only later saw fruition. They were the first to criticize the obscurantism of the Tridentine Mass, Baroque extravagance, to recommend Bible reading for all, and to reform the Church and get away from Jesuit laxism. They were flawed, but based in many ways. Radical Jesuit ultramontantism and laxism is what is destroying the Church and her credibility today
