@emilyopilo Hi Emily, which database did you use when you said "However, a legal research database contains the old information"?

Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott’s nominee to lead the city’s fire department once faced charges related to his possession of more than 50 homemade pipe bombs; Scott says it shouldn't be a disqualifier baltimoresun.com/politics/bs-md…

Imagine if we had a mayor at all. Such a person might at least have something to say - and maybe even might lift a finger! - about the fact that this is the same publicly funded agency that is now shielding their scanner transmissions from that public.
Baltimore Brew@BaltimoreBrew

TIMELINE of scanner transmissions that shows - hours before 30 were shot, 2 fatally - @BaltimorePolice were getting calls for help and knew Brooklyn Day was out of control, but stayed back. bit.ly/3O6dYjm "Foxtrot is overhead. We're not going in the crowd."

Whatever your site of struggle—abortion access, housing, education justice—the fact is that police are the ones standing in the way of our collective safety and well-being, not only through their violence and criminalizing people but also by looting our resources. #DefundPolice

I *guarantee* this will happen in Baltimore. Ivan Bates’ regressive and incarceration-first policies only lead to worse outcomes, as all the evidence shows.

This is the state of government transparency in Baltimore. The city’s law department withdrew a public records request on my behalf without asking me based on an assumption that I no longer wanted them. I’ve been a journalist for a decade and can safely say this is a new one.

Baltimore residents: Half our budget goes to Police & yet that $ doesn’t keep us safe so maybe let’s spend some of it on other approaches City leaders: Lol no BPD fails to keep us safe BPD: This is residents’ fault for daring to even talk about taking away some of our money

BPD could so easily do certain things better, early intervention at potentially disastrous events is actually one of the easiest. It’s not ghost guns, it’s not staffing, it’s not intelligence. It’s cops not caring, cops resisting doing basic work, until being forced to. 3/3

I heard Baltimore’s mayor at that press conference explaining why the curfew didn’t work in this case even though research exists that says curfews don’t work and people said this to him.
