1 in 3 children live in food poverty in the UK - a shocking statistic that has only been worsened by the current pandemic. Food insecurity is rising, despite 3 million tonnes of food going to waste each year.

In total, our volunteers delivered 4,000 nutritious meals using 1 tonne of surplus food - including luxury Christmas hampers donated by Hilton. A big thank you to all involved who helped make this pilot so successful 👏

1️⃣ Using the free school meals database, staff at Greenwood Academies Trust identified families who would benefit from the scheme 2️⃣ The Open Kitchens app worked out the most efficient delivery route 3️⃣ Our 10 volunteers delivered the meals to the doorsteps of the recipients
