@jr896770 @YorkshireReborn What's there to be excited about in the AAA scene?

indie devs keep making the same 5 games

@Ophaque1 @yarnf40580 @Rahll For fucks sake, "computentionally" isn't even a word unless you meant "computationally intense" which means your whole argument is banking on 2 GPUs necessary being absolutely true lol, but it's just an assumption, not a fact.
English

What's insane is trying to convince people their opinions are wrong by taking pot shots at them. Lemme know how that works out for you.

English

@Ophaque1 @yarnf40580 @Rahll "Geometry" isn't like physical 3D geometry, you get that right? It means it's seeing geometry from light sources and remodeling them so that they're more accurate ACCORDING TO THE ENGINES OWN DESIGN. Again it adds nothing, and functions EXACTLY like every DLSS.
English

@Killtran33s @yarnf40580 @Rahll ...You're serious?
Are you getting your arguments from ChatGPT?
Upscalers don't rebuild lighting. The whole POINT of upscalers is to render the image at a low resolution so it can be upscaled, to save processing power.
It DOES use past frames and motion vectors, but that's it.
English

@Ophaque1 @yarnf40580 @Rahll Except it's not and you're making that up. It uses multiple past frames, motion vectors, depth, materials and lighting data to rebuild the intended lighting and shading of the scene at a hgher fidelity, specifically higher accuracy in lighting in the demo. There's no gen AI comp.
English

@Killtran33s @yarnf40580 @Rahll Upscalers aren't supposed to add geometry, or add lights, or add texture effects. They're supposed to upscale the image.
DLSS 5 is modifying the image in ways that significantly change how the characters and environment lighting look.
English

@Ophaque1 @yarnf40580 @Rahll Yeah, you can run Gen AI natively on a home system, fails to render correctly usually, but you're still not connecting the dots between that (something that does take a lot of processing) and a AI upscaler with extra lighting, geometry, and texture effects now?
English

@Killtran33s @yarnf40580 @Rahll DLSS 5 uses computentionally intensive GenAI to "enhance" the image, and mapping the results to motion vectors.
You don't seem to understand that DLSS 5 is completely different from DLSS 4.5 and below.
English

@Ophaque1 @yarnf40580 @Rahll So what? They got sued and fined, they took a hit and shareholders for mad. It's illegal and now has precedence. What does that have to do with a standalone GPU AI that upscales game engine rendering artificially?
English

@Killtran33s @yarnf40580 @Rahll That's not true. You can test this yourself by downloading a model and running it locally with the internet turned off, assuming you have high enough spec.
SomeOrdinaryGamers made a video on the subject, I believe.
English

@Ophaque1 @yarnf40580 @Rahll Right, but if it doesn't have the original data set to ref, it's useless. It would see the data and assets in the game engine and replace them at random to create its own random hallucination of the inputs given to fit models that don't exist inside the engine. Zero logic = you.
English

@Killtran33s @yarnf40580 @Rahll About the datasets...
NVIDIA has stolen all of the available content from:
YouTube, including all copyrighted content that is available on it, which includes content from every copyright holder of visual media.
Anna's archive, which is a piracy website full of stolen books.
English

@Ophaque1 @yarnf40580 @Rahll And a system debugger which eats up a massive amount of processing and not unheard of in these kinds of early demos where it's pushing the limitations of the current MARKET hardware. 60 series isn't far away lol
English

@Killtran33s @yarnf40580 @Rahll You don't even understand the sentence you're quoting.
The "hand-crafted rendering" is the original video game and its assets.
The "Generative AI" is DLSS 5.
After GenAI models are trained, the resulting model is significantly smaller than its dataset.
English

@Ophaque1 @yarnf40580 @Rahll Lol you're reading into "blended with Gen AI" as "it's just Gen AI"? WOW. You still haven't answered where the "data set" for DLSS 5's "Gen AI", that takes thousands of TB to maintain for regular Gen AI, comes from. Please enlighten me.
English

@Killtran33s @yarnf40580 @Rahll They're running it locally, which is why it requires TWO of some of the most powerful and expensive consumer-grade GPUs NVIDIA makes.
English

@Ophaque1 @yarnf40580 @Rahll It would be an insane leap of capability to transmit Gen AI data from a data center in near real time, or even cache it, to upscale the realism in a running game with just a 5090GPU. That requires so many levels of infrastructure to work it practically never would.
English

@Killtran33s @yarnf40580 @Rahll You're describing the way DLSS has worked up until DLSS 4.5.
DLSS 5 is completely different.
English

@Ophaque1 @yarnf40580 @Rahll But it is, and everyone is pissed because they heard "generative". The reconstructions created by DLSS5 to generate the fake frames and resolutions are rendered in real time from the existing assets, textures, lights, geometry, etc that are running in the engine. It adds NOTHING.
English

@Killtran33s @yarnf40580 @Rahll A "data set" is all of the input data you feed into a Generative AI neural network.
For GenAI to generate images, you'll want to feed it millions of images.
NVIDIA has ALREADY been sued for scraping copyrighted content for images and video without permission.
English

@Ophaque1 @yarnf40580 @Rahll I have zero doubt you're not just retarded, but you're probably deranged, but go ahead and enlighten me: where are they getting their "data set", and also define "data set" because I get the feeling you're about to tell me it's all tied back to the data centers lol
English

@Killtran33s @yarnf40580 @Rahll It's generative AI.
I don't care HOW it's implemented, it's still GenAI image generation, which was trained by scraping all known content on the internet without permission, and slapping it into a technology so unoptimized that it can barely exist without a datacenter.

English

@Ophaque1 @yarnf40580 @Rahll Not what they said, but they said "generative" so that's all you heard. It's also not a filter, it's all done in engine as the frames are generated, not after the fact. And they're not running DLSS5 on one GPU, they're bolstering cores on the first to run stable DLSS5 on it.
English

@Killtran33s @yarnf40580 @Rahll DLSS 5 is not FrameGen or upscaling anymore. It's not serving the same purpose at all. That's why EVERYONE is pissed.
English

@Killtran33s @yarnf40580 @Rahll That's what DLSS normally does, yes.
Everyone is complaining because DLSS 5 isn't doing that anymore. They called their expensive GenAI filter "DLSS 5".
English

@Killtran33s @yarnf40580 @Rahll You've been replying to EVERY reply thread under this tweet "dunking" on people, and you didn't even READ what NVIDIA wrote about what DLSS 5 even IS.
DLSS 5 is NOT upscaling, it's a computationally intensive GenAI filter trying to make video games look more "realistic."
English

@Killtran33s @yarnf40580 @Rahll You don't even know what "data set" means.
You don't even know what DLSS 5 is doing.
They LITERALLY stated that it's GenAI.
The demo they showcased requires TWO RTX 5090s to run. One of the GPUs is for rendering the game, and the other is ENTIRELY for DLSS 5.
English

@Killtran33s @yarnf40580 @Rahll If DLSS 5 is trying to make video games look MORE realistic, why would they train their AI on video games?
If that were the case, DLSS 5 would be trying to make the games look like... video games? Not real life? It's nonsense.
Again, what dataset did they feed into their GenAI?
English

@Ophaque1 @yarnf40580 @Rahll From the developers at the studios for those games and engineers at Nvidea, where do you think they got them?
