"As flies to wanton boys, we are for the Gods. They kill us for the sport.Soon the science will not only be able to throw down the ageing of the cells, the science will fix the cells to the state, and so we’ll become, only accidents, crimes, wars will still kill us.."

I was on Newsfile today on Joy TV. 1. Based on the non-stop feedback I am receiving, I think that this is a good opportunity to get more people to appreciate the way we policy analysts see the world. 2. I have put together this piece to illustrate how things that look simple and are easily bundled together to create a seamless and politically convenient narrative often turn out to be highly problematic in the world of policy. 3. Some of the conversations I found stimulating on the show are summarised immediately below as well. A. If, instead of using coherent policies and strategies, we simply bend the rules to benefit specific individuals due to their regulatory influence, we may end up creating a few successful entrepreneurs, but no broad-based intergenerational success stories. B. If Ghana wants to help its entrepreneurs own more of the country’s natural resources, the policies and laws should be calibrated to ensure that more Ghanaians undertake more high-calibre exploration to find big greenfield assets. C. How come the economic nationalism argument only comes up when powerful Ghanaian actors are contending with foreign companies about mines that those foreign companies have discovered and developed? We saw the same situation in the Black Volta affair and now in the Damang saga. D. Another reason why I am not too sure about the indigenisation logic is the fact that so far it is foreign companies from relatively weaker (geopolitically speaking) countries like Australia and South Africa that have lost their mining opportunities. E. One cannot avoid the unfortunate impression that Gold Fields, for instance, has been placed between a rock and a hard place, pun intended. It is fighting claims of nearly $740 million from a powerful mining boss who is poised to take over one of their two mines and needs roughly the same amount to develop that mine at the same time as Gold Fields' lease/development agreement for the larger mine is up for renewal in just over a year. F. For those of leftist/socialist persuasion who support economic nationalism, I wonder if they think Gold Fields is a fair target. Of the world’s five major gold mining companies, it is the only one that has an African government – South Africa, through its public pensions fund – as the largest shareholder. I thought pan-Africanism was a thing? 4. Hope there is someone out there curious about the world of policy who would find something useful amidst all the meandering text! “Goldstone is cheating us. There’s rumor that Prof Iddrisu was chosen simply because he's a Dagomba. They say Prof Alhassan topped selection/interview process with of 82.2%, ahead of other shortlisted candidates like Prof. Iddrisu (73%) and Prof. Abagale (70%). Is this true or false? VC too tribalism?

@EfoEtornam In as much us we deserve more from government, we should never think Ghana is just Accra. 69yrs still many places are obscure areas and the best mode of transporting any sick person will be "pragya ambulance" /motorbikes Raise concern when you see this on the streets of Accra

Undercover BBC reporters found a fraudulent industry of lawyers and advisers who offer fake photos, fake medical reports and fake letters from fake male partners, used by asylum seekers in uk who pretend to be gay just to scam the uk asylum system. Wow.

Afia Schwarzenegger reacts to the arrest of Abubakar Yakubu (popularly known as Baba Amando), who was picked up and remanded for creating and sharing memes and digital images that mocked President John Dramani Mahama and other government officials. “It’s childish and should be left for the kids to behave like that” I think Afia spoke wisdom on this waa!

@NanaQuequ @WisdomGomashie @BBSimons Charlie, one thing I've come to appreciate is many who sit on tv to discuss issues are not better than us..They have mastered the queen's language and throw anything to the public without knowing the facts. Many workers were sacked around 2022-2023 just because Damang was going

@WisdomGomashie @BBSimons when Goldfields wrote to the state stating their intention to exit and consequently decided to scale down blasting etc; was someone pointing a gun to their head?🤷🏿‍♂️🤷🏿‍♂️🤷🏿‍♂️ The lease was NOT truncated, it is just a refusal to renew which is very legitimate
