Women & girls make up 55% of those living with vision loss globally, even though most cases are preventable or treatable. It’s not a failure of medicine it’s a failure of access and equity. 👋Grateful to be with Orbis Ethiopia celebrating 27 years of collaboration w/Ministry of Health. We work closely to eliminate trachoma & expand access to quality eye care. To date we have conducted 6M screenings, 90k cataract surgeries and established over 300 eye care units.

Visited the Menelik Hospital and Orbis Ethiopia supported training facilities and the Eye Bank of Ethiopia, the only eye bank in sub-Saharan Africa other than South Africa, which works to reverse corneal blindness thru the collection & processing of donor corneas. @OrbisIntl

Our @OrbisIntl "See the Future" Project focuses on reducing childhood blindness and visual impairment across 20 districts in Greater Accra & Ashanta regions in Ghana, reaching 675k people with eye care services, training 4k teachers, and screening children in over 2k schools. 💪

Grateful for the opportunity to meet @OrbisIntl partners @komfo_anokye one of Ghana's largest tertiary hospitals & the main referral center for the northern zone of Ghana. We worked to help create a child friendly pediatric area in the KATH eye clinic, provide equip & training.

Thank you to the Ghana Education Service, the Ghana Health Service, and the Ministry of Health for their partnership with @OrbisIntl in joint delivery of eye care in Accra, Kumasi, and the Ashanti region - strengthening and building capacity, focusing on sustainability.
