Breaking from @halbritz @OrenCNN : A US F-35 fighter jet made an emergency landing at US air base in the Middle East after it was struck by what is believed to be Iranian fire, according to two sources familiar with the matter. Capt. Tim Hawkins, a spokesman for US Central Command, said the fifth-generation stealth jet was “flying a combat mission over Iran” when it was forced to make an emergency landing. Hawkins said the aircraft landed safely, and the incident is under investigation “The aircraft landed safely, and the pilot is in stable condition,” Hawkins added. The incident would be the first time Iran has hit a US aircraft in the war started in late February. Both the US and Israel are flying F-35s in the conflict; the aircraft costs upwards of $100 million.

The Union of Journalists in Israel is appalled by the conduct of the police in Jerusalem last night Police officers attacked several journalists without provocation, including foreign press. The officers damaged professional equipment, confiscated memory cards documenting their illicit actions, and inflicted a bone fracture on a CNN producer. The Union calls on the Police Internal Investigations Department (PIID) to launch an immediate inquiry and to detain all officers involved for questioning. Furthermore, we find the statement issued by the Jerusalem District to be factually incorrect. We call on the Police Commissioner to immediately suspend the officers involved. We wish our injured colleague a speedy recovery and will exhaust all measures to ensure the recovery and return of the seized equipment.

In today's press conference, @PeteHegseth said: "When a few drones get through or tragic things happen, it's front page news. I get it. The press only wants to make the president look bad, but try for once to report the reality the terms of this war will be set by us at every step." A fact check: The press -- particularly the legacy Pentagon press corps -- has a long history of covering U.S. military casualties. Under Bush. Under Obama. Under Biden. And yes, under Trump. Those efforts haven't always been perfect. But they've highlighted sacrifices by American service members and their families, and shortcomings that sometimes allowed those deaths to happen. We'll continue to do so. It's too important to stop.
