@Orgasamic Sad reality. But it’s foolhardy to invest in Nigeria from the diaspora. I think the only exception is investment in the financial sector. The downside to this is FX risk.

My wife and some of our family members initially were trying to convince us to invest in Nigeria. The way I rebuked the suggestion, everyone who brings it up knows they immediately become persona non grata. Even my wife scorns at the idea now.

That idea prevalent among diasporan Nigerians of coming back home to retire after years abroad is one born out of sentiment and not common sense. Home is where you make it, not where you or your parents were born.
